Hello, i'm needing a new slave cylinder for my 1.2 SX, i've bene looking on Ebay and they have a few on but none of them look like the one that's on my car, ie. the bleed nipple is at the wrong end but some of the ads state that it's for a Brava 1.2 SX. I'm aware that there are two types, push-in and bolt-on, mine has the 2 bolts on the top.

No Bravo has a push on type. They are bolt ons. There are two types. One which has mountings either side of the cylinder, the other has both mounts on one side of the cylinder.

Buy one from shop4parts.co.uk, its a genuine Fiat part

1.2 -1.4 Slave Cylinders (Special offer £29.95 +VAT)

there are 7 types according to my motorfactor so personally i wouldn't buy online in case you get the wrong one.

get your local motorfactor to order it, then you can take yours along to compare it with when you collect. this will also be cheaper and quicker than buying online. if you call now they will have it in stock by 11am tomorrow.

i paid £27 for mine.

I'd seriously change your motorfactor. :) Thats sure going to cause problems.

Well lets ask ePER.

Fiat say there is one clutch slave cylinder for the 1.2.

46421941

For the 1.4 its 46421941, same as the 1.2.

Now don't be shocked when i say this Jug but.....

60811771

...is for 1.6, 1.8, 2.0, 1.9(75)TD, 1.9(100)TD, 1.9(105JTD) & 1.9JTD CF3

Two clutch slave cylinders in total. Thats from Fiat. Check on your ePER.

As with traders on ebay, they are motorfactors and for some reason think the Bravo has push on slave cylinders, share parts with Puntos etc, where they get this info is beyond me. Hence why i dont have complete faith in them. A while back i needed a new alternator belt, got it from the motorfactors as it was £5 cheaper than Fiat and in stock. After a while i get a noise coming from the engine bay each time i start the car from cold. A year later or so I find the motorfactors sold me the wrong belt even though they had the car details in front of them. I use Motor Factors all the time for parts like filtration but not on parts i require to last a long time. Cambelts, slave cylinders, no thanks.

Cheers guys, gonna give my local auto parts dealer a ring in the morning.

they all use the same catalogues so it doesn't matter where you go. my motor factor got me the right one- better safe than sorry they ordered every possible cylinder for the 1.8 and let me choose the right one.

fiat dealers can supply the wrong parts even if you give them your chassis number. its happened to me.

Won't argue with that, but its not Fiat errors its human errors. These people are the same whether at Fiat or a motorfactors. Pity they aren't big petrol heads working at these places.

However rest assured there are two slave cylinders for the Bravo, give a motorfactor the fiat part code and he should retrieve you the right slave cylinder unless he's dyslexic.

Just bought a slave cylinder but can I hell get the rubber seal on it. Any tips for getting it on?

What did you buy? Any pics?

The seal and everything should be already on the slave cylinder, all you need do is fit it, and bleed the fluid through. Job done. No need to fit seals etc.

Did you buy the seal kit part or did you buy the whole slave cylinder?

It's ok I got it sorted, I bought the whole cylinder. It has gone on but when I went to bleed it I bought the tube, put on end on the bleed nipple and put the other end in a small container with some fluid in, tried to bleed it through, topped up the brake fluid resevoir and got someone to pump the clutch whilst I held the tube. The pedal started to tighten up but then it loosened up and I used a whole bottle of fluid, what was I doing wrong?
