My bravo was feeling sluggish on acceleration so decided to take a look under the bonnet. Took the cover off the engine and found a hose that comes from the (i think its called) air inlet duct and goes into the rocker cover and into the area above the first fuel injector, had perished and a big crack had appeared.
Went to 3 scrapyards couldnt find a bravo with an engine in it, so did a botch job with tape to try a seal the crack. Will try get part monday.
Since taping and sealing the crack the problem has got worse and now the engine warning light is flashing.
Any ideas why this light would be flashing after sealing the crack in the hose or have i got a separate unrelated problem. thanks

Had another look under the bonnet, when getting dark, and pulled the plug leads off one by one. Discovered that 2 of them were leaking sparks through the casing. Waiting for somewhere to open to go get a set of leads and the perished hose, hopefully this will solve my problems.

Leads should be changed quite frequently on the Bravo, other experts are more accurate on here. But I think it's every 40k miles, or thereabouts. If your Bravo's done more, I'd wager those leads have never been changed.

I replaced mine last year, as part of a service. What a tremendous difference it makes. Smoother tickover, and feels more pokey at low revs.

I'd suggest ordering the other part through Fiat, it's not going to be a fortune, and for peace of mind it's worth doing.

:)

Put new leads on, drove 5 miles car is sweet again. Only problem now engine warning light is still on. Any ideas how to get it rid of it. thanks

the light means the ecu is detecting a fault.

with no other symptoms to use as clues we cant really identify it without performaing a diagnostic.

it may switch itself off once it has had a chance to figure out that you've fixed the fault. if it stays on after a few journeys then there is definately sitll a fault occuring.

i know on the 1.2 a slight head gasket leak is a favorite for bringing the light on when everything seems to be fine, but there are loads of possibilites.
