106,500 miles on the clock and running quite well. It's had a new clutch, cambelt & tensioner, auxiliary belts, water pump, alternator, front shocks and front brake hoses in the last year (phew). In the next year it's likely to get another 30,000 miles put on it, the MOT is new but advisory on brake line corrosion.
The question is, do I plan a rolling maintenance to get another 50,000 odd miles out of it or ditch it as soon as it starts to get troublesome? Will the drivetrain last another 50,000 miles and is it just a matter of time before the injectors and/or crank sensor fail? Is anything else likely to fall apart if I try to push it for another 18 months? What do you think?

106k is nothing on a well serviced engine. it is highly likely that you will be able to do your 30k over the next year with no problems at all.

buying another car to replace it with only half the mileage could lead to many problems. better the devil you know, especially a devil that has just had all the major servicables replaced.

I was hoping that would be the response! I just wanted to be aware of any "oh, the cams always give up at 120K" information or similar....

as long as its been services and well looked after, your going to be fine untill at least 130k

personally thats been around the magic number for me. for me any how around that time is a complete suspension overhaul along with a new clutch, timing belt and water pump
