My 20a fuse blow on my radio circuit in my fiat brava 1.2 16v 2001, so i thought great replace the fuse, so i replaced the fuse now my central locking just goes bang like a muffled gunshot, any ideas i know the central locking and radio are on the same circirt, i've disconnected the circuit for the time being so it's back to the manuel locking for the time being. Any ideas what the gunshot sound is and how to recify, the sound seems to be louder inside of the car. car starts fine and moves ok.

If the gunshot sound comes from a door it will be the source of the short, if it comes from where the fuse is its just the fuse blowing, hefty short = hefty bang!

the sounds happens a couple of seconds(delay) after i push the door locks, like a bang, also the door buttons on all four locks it you feel them they vibrate a little:confused: any clue anyone????

is possible the central locking relay is defective and causing the circuit to be open longer than it should be? maybe shorted when i knocked the radio circuit?, if so where can i locate the relay and what does it look like i heard it yellow, what ampage is it?

Usually it can be found behind the glovebox, remove the glovebox and you'll have access to hidden relays. On the MK2 its incorporated into a cassette looking relay box that does several functions besides central locking.

hi guys i think it the central locking control unit, after the surge on the circuit it's fryed the central locking control unit relay and it making the solonoid work longer then they should, make the door lcok switches sorta bounce for a second, it weird how theres a 2 second delay tho. anyone have any better diagnoses please help:confused:

i've fixed the exact same problem on several cars and its always been due to a door lock mechanism sticking (or a door not closed correctly); not the relay. open and shut each door, and then try to manually lock and unlock each door with central locking switched off (remove fuse).
