Fiat Brava Timing Belt

I'm a new Fiat Brava owner, I've had the car about a week. Its a W reg 1.6 100SX. I've been reading the forums about the timing belt breaking on the Brava. I've had mine serviced and its got a 12 month MOT but I don't know when the timing belt was last changed. I was reading somewhere else and a post was saying that the timing belt problem was on the brava V reg and the older models. Am I safe as mines a W reg? Or would you recommend I get the timing belt changed right away?

What do you mean a problem?
As above if you don't know when it was lasted changed then you should get it done! The timing belt has a limited life!

Re: Fiat Brava Timing Belt

If your not doing it yourself get a good garage to do it, these engines have to be timed exactly with the correct timing tools.

Re: Fiat Brava Timing Belt

If it's W reg chances are it's either had 1 change or none. It's due it's 2nd change anyway (about 4 years) so get it done. It's expencive to do it the other way and start replacing valves...

Re: Fiat Brava Timing Belt

there is no timing belt problem with the 1.6, but it must be changed every 72k or 5 years, whichever comes first. it is very sensible to get it done earlier. if you dont know when it was done then you need to get it done asap.

Re: Fiat Brava Timing Belt

Thanks for all the replys. The Brava only has just over 35,000 on the clock. I'll try and book it into the garage for next weeks and get it done.
