im more gutted than i think ive ever been.... ever..

driving back from work tonight... (well from chez back to office in sheff) going down a bypass... there was a slight bump in the road..


next thing i know...



SMASH!!!!


bonnet flips up


smashed the windscreen (its not actually fallen through just all cracked)
bonnet is bent to hell.. its actually bent to the shape of the roof...
sunroof is smashed (bonnet hit that too)
and the roof has some big dents in it

Ahh noooo thats Effin crap, I really feel for you as so much work has gone into that car
How did the bump make the bonnet flip up?
Do you think it can be repaired?

must have bumped the catch and wooosh... up it goes

but i said that was going to happen at brooklands, you said it wont

What was wrong with the catch?

I just didi a guide on fiatboo on how to replace the catch as its only approx £15 in total to buy and fit.

she only has the pop from inside bit. not the bit you poke your fingers under bonnet to undo

as far as i was aware.. the catch is fine... you still have to undo it by pulling the thing.. theres just no thing to undo under the bonnet... if you get me.. i dunno if thats standard or not...


anyway...







can kinda see the dents in the roof... its made the sunroof wonky so that has to be sorted before the sunroof can be replaced

Ah so no safety catch, was it broke or is it standard to have no safety catch?

its always been like that since i had the car... so i dunno... other bravo people will be able to tell me

its happened to someone else off BOO twice now

nope, there is deffo ment to be a safety catch

It shouldn't have popped off the main bonnet lock anyway so something tells me there was something more wrong with it than just the safety catch not working.

its a right pain in the arse... i really love this car but im slowly losing it the more things go wrong

i cant afford to fix it... but i cant afford to buy a new car either.. and what would i do with the bravo anyway? its another pain in the bum i really dont need atm :bang:

join the small but elite club....
when mine "popped" at 70mph the screen was ok,as was the sunroof..
the only bad points were the small dints on the roof and little scratches on the top of the wings..i had bonnet lifters and they saved extra damage i think.

normally happens if some one hasn't shut bonnet properly

what would a bravo with a vinyl roof look like? :chin:

new window 60-70 via insurance
S/H bonnet 25(ish)
1/2 sqm plastic & duck tape 5 quid

okay its not going to be pretty but it will all work...

i had lifters too... they just snapped off... didnt help at all.

cant get decent pics but the roof dents are pretty bad, and ive no idea how they can be fixed
