Ok people i have been looking into this abit already but i was wondering if you could fit a 20v turbo into a 1.8 hlx. i know its alot of work and already thought of the following:

1. would the suspension take it
2. brakes would need to be swapped over (not sure on master and slave cycindler)
3. Would i need the coupes driveshafts
4. Would the bravo rad need swapping aswell.
5. rear brakes will need to be converted to disc's not the silly drums
6. wiring loom needs swapping aswell
7. would the engine mounts need moving and upgrading

If anyone knows if it can be done please can you let me know

it would probably be easier to do it to a 20v bravo.

1. would the suspension take it
easily

2. brakes would need to be swapped over (not sure on master and slave cycindler)
personally i'd fit HGT rear discs and coupe brembos, the HLX hydraulics may be ok.

3. Would i need the coupes driveshafts
no you cant, they're a different length. you'll need HGT shafts.

4. Would the bravo rad need swapping aswell.
no, it'll be fine.

5. rear brakes will need to be converted to disc's not the silly drums
yeah i would. its not really needed becasue rear brake sonly do 10% of the braking, but if you're gonna drive it hard then for the same of safety upgrade to HGT rear discs.

6. wiring loom needs swapping aswell
it seems the 20vT loom connects directly to the 20v loom, i'm not sure what the differences are on the HLX loom.

7. would the engine mounts need moving and upgrading
you can use the 20v mounts

Thank you jug. all i have to do now if find the hgt and coupe. i was gonna use my hlx when i brought my road legal quad so i could work on my car and drive the quad but now it looks like i will have 4 vehicles lol

save the time and money; just buy a coupe 20vT.
insurance will be cheaper than a 20vT bravo, plus you get the coupe chassis which is far more capable of taking the power, and its a more exclusive car- a true sports coupe with street cred instead of a shopping hatch with a bad image.

Jug, i'm afraid to tell you that you have FAILED on a number of points :(

1. the suspension may well take the weight but the front hubs on your 1.8 are 25mm and the coupe/HGT hubs are 35mm so you will need coupe/HGT front struts and springs.

2. as you'll be fitting the hubs anyway for the shafts you will kinda be forced into fitting the brembo's :)

3. HGT driveshafts are different, you will have to again use the coupe shafts :)

4. The rad will have be be swapped, it works differently to the N/A, the turbo feels back to it.

5. agree on that one

6. yes the loom does need swapping, the connectors are the same as just has said but you will need to make a few changed to it for it to work :)

7. you'll need the coupe engine mounts, 2 are the same, other two are different.

also your going to want to fit the gearbox, subframe, exhaust system, fuel tank/pump, steering rack, exhaust heat sheild with handbrake and gearstick on.

if you had them side by side you should be able to have it done in no time :)
