i hav x reg bravo 115 hlx 65,000 miles, when clutch is bout an inch from floor feels like its getting caught on something feels like its in the pedal mechanism itself, this happened everyday for a week i found that if i pumped the pedal it went away. After speaking to fiat + my dad we decided to change the clutch master cylinder fiat wanted £105 for part which my dad got for £60!!!
My car was fine for a week now the pedal has gone very stiff + stays down unless you actually lift it back up.
any ideas what this could be or what i should try next ???????

doesnt seem to be losing any fluid, my dad thinks the arm on top of gearbox that joins to or moves with slave is getting stuck or seized ???

the slave cylinder, is a possibility, im not to familiar with the setup on th 1.8 bravos but with the diesel and the 1.6 you need to remove the battery tray to get to the cylinder and work on it properly should onle be held on by 2 number 10 bolts and the fluid pipe.

sprayed wd-40 on this arm pushed clutch pedal down lifted it with foot for bout 10 mins as it seems to be this getting stuck, pedal is free again now can put it right to floor without it sticking comes straight back up ???

brava clutch problem

change the gears when the engine is not running but after turning it on , it is stuck and I can change anything . the clutch pedal is soft ...I thought it might be slave cylinder so i removed the battery tray and checked it , bled it just in case ...but no luck.any idea where the problem might be ? I think the fork might be the problem ...i would like to replace the clutch but before i need an advise . have anyone some ideas where the problems might be or what should I do.any pictures about how to replace a clutch on a brava? It was replaced just 14 000 miles ago at Mr.clutch ....you can imagine what a good job they've done .I want to do it myself cos I don't trust them anymore.:(

another thing is that when the engine is running the clutch whistles ...to be a problems with the barrel? if you have any ideas please let me know.

any help would be appreciated ...
p.s. sorry for my bad English - it's my 3rd language on a list of 4 .

hi to everyone ,

the fork moves but now I don't know if it's enough or how much it should be.:(What's strange is the clutch pedal that is very soft .It might be the slave cylinder that is broken? I remember that sometimes I had to press the clutch pedal twice to change the gears .... as I said the fork moves but i don't know if it is enough.thx for your answers . I do appreciate it ...

my clutch pedal gets stiff can feel in pedal like it catching on something somewhere dont do it all time and if pump pedal it goes away. changed master cylinder it was alright for a week. pedal getting stuck when it about an inch from floor can lift it back up, clutch fork looks rusty seemed to be this getting stuck sprayed wd-40 on it worked but didnt last long, tried copper anti-seize spray clutch fork moving freely now. 4 days later pedal got stuck on floor yet again this time in traffic !!! gonna change slave cylinder as well now, dont leak anywhere not losing any fluid but rubber boot on it is broken ???

What's strange is the clutch pedal that is very soft .
if your brake fluid level has droped that would suggest you have a leak in the cltuch system which has allowed air to enter, making the clutch pedla feel soft. this will result in the fork moving less. try bleeding the slave cylinder, if it fixes the problem you know it was due to air. if it then happens again after a few days there is a leak in the clutch hydraulics.

I bled the system but it's not working . The slave cylinder is not coming back after being pushed so i think of the pressure plate or the fork . It seems like the pressure plate is broken. I'll try to change the clutch and probably the fork. if anyone has some info of how to do it , it would be perfect . I'm gonna give it a try . let you konow if I mange to finish the job.I have to improvise cos I don't have all the tools I need .:bang: think think think .....

yeah it sounds like the fingers on the pressure plate have snapped off, either that or the thrust bearing has collaped so the pressure plate cant push it back because they are no longer touching.

haynes manual has great step by step insutaction with pics, worth every penny at a time like this.
