Hey

I have 2nd time i ask help in here, anyways, i have exessive fuel consumtion (maybe up to 13l/100km), i have bravo with 1.6 engine (1997), i tested injectors (i assume i tested right thing, since 1st from 1 side was ground) and they came: 2 were little above 30ohm, 1 ~20,5 ohm and last1 15,7 ohm. since the car is rather cheap and i dont want to but alot of money in it i thought i re ask this. Is it injectors for sure? "sparkplugs" are not nice, but i think it isint the problem, but i will have to change them too if i get rid of the problem. i am looking to get new injectors from scrappy, but is there anything else i shuld do when i will change them and how hard it is?

my enlish isnt good so srry for that.

Thank you for reading.
and for ur help ;)

your injector resistances are ususual. the difference between them is big enough to cause uneven running. try some scrapyard injectors, but also fit some new sparkplugs and HT leads. make sure the rubber seal at each end of each injector is in good condition.

might this be reson for that high fuel consumption? just ask.

could

injectors work? its only fiat in my local scrapyard.

no, you must use injectotrs from a 1.6 model. there are 2 types of injector o the 1.6, some have 2 holes, some have 4 holes, but both can be used. personally i would want to use the same type, on a 1997 model that means 4 holes, any 1.6 with a metal inlet manifold on top of the engine will have 4hole injectors. the later mk2 models with a black plastic inlet manifold on top of the engine use the 2 hole injectors, if you can only find these then that is not a problem, they will work ok.

Well tnx i will see what can i find, but since theres no in local scrappy it´ll take more time, thx jug anyway for ur help :)

well i have 1 more question, since i looked at the engine, i saw something disterbing (guess that isnt right way to write that), i have few loose... wires. I dont know where shuld they go and for what they are.

heres 2 pictures. Could anyone tell me, for what they shuld be for?
and could they be reason for my problems?

Now my engine has problems with idleing (idles on about 500 rpm), anyway, if i take any "spark" cables off it dies so i guess all silinders work. it happened after i took battery off for a while.

not 100% sure about the wires, think its an earth point.

since all leads cut engine it sounds as though you have weak ignition. replace plugs and leads.

just got new plugs+leads, did ecu restart and after it it became like that. Anyway i did another restart and at beginning rev-s still dropped to ~500 and got slowly and roughly up to 800 agen, well... made a little drive after 5min and after that revs are ok. Still i cant get hold on the injectors :S. Thinking about buying new ones, dunno the price ofc...

So theres 2 cables... and i dont need them to be connecter to anywhere?

Tnx

dunno, can u tell me?
would that increase fuel consumption or cause any other problems to engine?

ohh... and i have few problems, 1st is the fact that if engine if warmed up correctly i have very bad idle.... about 650 - 750 jumping... like engine trys to do something to increase rpm and then drops to ~600 or so and agen and agen etc. and 2nd problem is that in cirten rpm-s ~2500-2800 not allways put sometimes it starts "pluttering"(dunno how to describe in english) like it would not get fuel or something, when i use cluch it will go easily to max rpm but if i have gear in and try to accelerate (very softly or hard dont matter) the car starts to go very roughly like cant get fuel correctly, but if rpm is little lower/higher it goes rather ok. as sed its not allways, more like rare thing to happen, maybe 5 times in 2 weeks, and goes like that for ~20 sec or something. usally i gear down/or up couse i dont want to breake by gearbox/cluch or whatever couse its really hard.

any help would be welcome, i like that car but since it not really expencive and i dont want to go to "fiat-s garage" since its about 200km away and would be rather expencive.

Tnx

your problem sounds like the early stages of injector failure.

if those wires are for the oil pressure sensor then the only problem would be the warning light on the dash would not come on when oil pressure gets too low.

hey,

well, little update, it isnt oil sensors wireing since my oil "light" works, when rpm drops very low ~500 and lower it comes on.
Now after long ride my idle is still bad ~650 rpm or so, and i moves little up/down all the time, but if i press "pedal" for few times lightly my injection light comes on and rpm goes to normal range ~850 or so and engine runs rather smooth. After the light goes off, if i press accelerator agen then rpm drops down agen and so on.
could that wireing might be crankshaft sensors? or any other good idea?
havent changed injecktors, since best place i have found, for 3 injectors they wanted about 100 euros so thats way too much i think. they didnt had 4.

tnx? :yum:

Hey
Long time no see
hmm... i disconnected all injektors- took engine apart, and retested injectors, now had 3 ~15,1 ohm and 1 7ohm ;) i guess 1st time i did something wrong, anyway tnx, and as it seems, was just another injector failure :). ill look can i find new1 or something.

Hei

Now i got new lambda, injector and intake air temp sensor in, and it helped fuel economy, got it down ~35% so very good, but now, i think it dont have as much power as is shuld have.
Before there was major torgue from 4k rpm, but now, it is not that good. i Thought that getting injector swapped would give more power.
Could i have "timing belt"(or however is it called, my english isnt that good srry) missed with a "teath", havent checked that, or something else. I have driven the car as it is for a year.
* before i had fuel consumption up to ~13l/100km and now i was able to make it below 8l/100

tnx for help so far :)

Ohh and btw they wanted to get ~+200 euros for new injector so i got 2nd hand.
Tnx
