All the dials on my dashboard have stopped working! So that's the speedo, rev counter, fuel gauge, temperature gauge and the LCD mileage counter.

The lights in the dash all work still, as does everything else in the car.

I fear it may have been caused when I was swapping the power wires round to install an aftermarket stereo, and accidentally touched something on the wrong wire (yes i probably should have disconnected the battery)... there was a brief flash of all the lights on the dashboard but I thought nothing more of it. But now I have no dials!

Could I have shorted something and blown a fuse? I had a brief look at the fuses and couldnt see any blown ones but are there any more hidden away?

Any help would be much appreciated as I'm very skint!

Open up the fuse box which is on the right just below the steering wheel, and check the services fuse, the inside of the flap will show you what fuse does what, sometimes mine does this but the fuse has just worked its way out and hasnt blown!

Update on this... everything seems to be working again except for the speedo. The mileage counter is on but not illuminated when the headlights are on (I can't remember if it was before).

The bloke I bought the car off did mention the speedo was dodgy, so now the rest is working again I'm assuming I didn't cause it with my dodgy rewiring episode.

I've seen PDFs showing how to dismantle the dash - are there any that focus on fixing contacts etc to deal with this issue?
