The new slave cylinder was replaced by a mobile mechanic today. Picked the car up from the folks house this evening, and it doesn't feel 100%. I've a feeling the cylinder has not been bled properly, and there's still a small amount of air in the system.

Symptons: There is about ¼ inch of play in the clutch pedal travel before it feels like the clutch is being engaged. Secondly the biting point seems very low too. Before, there was no play, and the biting point, (like most Bravo's) was quite high.

It's driveable, but just doesn't feel so good.

As always any advice is greatly appreciated.

if you want something doing properly you have to do it yourself.

get a bleed kit on the cylinder's bleed nipple, loosen the nipple, and then pump the clutch a few times making sure the brake fluid in the reservoir does not drop below min. examine the bleed kit pipe to ensure there is no bubbles (if there are keep pumping the pedal) and then tighten the bleed nipple and reomve the bleed kit. top up the reservoir and job done.

:yeahthat:

My friend had a clutch pedal assembly fitted by a mechanic on a focus. It came back exactly as you describe yours to be. We bled it ourselves and was then spot on.

Do you know, I said exactly the same thing to my folks last night, after I picked the car up.

I've got a one man bleed kit, as described in my original post on this issue, so I'll do this at the weekend. Shouldn't take long.

Thanks for the tips chaps.
