not sure if im posting in the right place.
jus wanted to knw how difficult it is to change suspension on brava 80sx, cud i get away with jus doing the springs, jus put a set of 16's on the car and it looks good but as u can see in my signature pic its a little high, i was thinking maybe a 30 - 40 mm drop nothing to major.

the rear is very easy, the front is also very easy if you dont have any seized bolts. use a haynes manual.

replacing only the springs is fine if the shocks are still in good condition. a 30 to 40mm drop will be fine on 16s.

yeh i had a look, the back looks simple enough, probably need to buy some extra tools to do the front tho... anywayz, anybody knw any good sites to get springs? cheapest i seen is around £60.. is the lowest im gonna get?

As Jug says, replacement is pretty easy.

You need a decent socket set, and a good set of spring clamps. (For the front springs). I'd recommend the night before spraying all bolts liberally in WD-40 or similar.

:)

i got my bravo's springs on ebay for about £60, its a fair price to pay. i had 45mm jamex springs, highly recommended (y)

Just noticed, that you're not intending to replace the shock absorbers at the same time.

This won't immediately cause issues. But you're ride will suffer in terms of comfort, and composure. You're best to either replace with brand new standard shocks at the time of the shortened spring change, or replace your standard worn shocks with uprated new ones.

If you don't replace your original shocks, you'll likely see failure of the shocks more prematurely than when you're running standard height springs. The shortened uprated springs, have far more energy for the original shocks to work with, and there's a slim chance you could "bottom out" on the shortened springs with standard shocks.

Just thought this may be worth knowing.

:)

yeh i was chattin to a few people and they been sayin the same thing, so my lowering plan is kinda at a standstill untill i get more funds together and do a bit of research on full suspension sets..

anyway thanks for the reply dude...

anyone have an opinion on these??
http://www.essexracing.com/product_info.php?products_id=843 delivery costing £10
i once asked the same question, but so far i dont know anyone who has bought a set, and essexracing claim they are "our own brand" even though essex racing dont make them, so they must be made by a company who do not sell under their own brand. thats not a bad thing, but it means we dont know if these springs are any good.

well the only other set of springs for that price are the ones on ebay so im asuming there of the same quality... but im not gettin then anymore now as im gonna do the full set, jus need to find a decent kit for a decent price...

ok guys ive jus searched for like ages, finally found myself a decent price for springs and shocks, does it matter if they made by different company tho?

Apex sports Shocks front and back. £69.51 + £47.82
Weitec Springs 35mm. £96.00

If i order it this way it seem to works out cheaper then buying a kit... ie Apex kit costs £299.62 + delivery, where as this set up costs £233.33 all together inc delivery

gettin them all from here http://motorsportworld.co.uk well gonna order them end of the week...unless somebody knws somewhere better

Or go to http://www.buypartsby.co.uk

And you can get:

Front KYB Gas Shocks: £51.44 (inc vat)
Rear KYB Gas Shocks: £37.76 (inc vat)
Lowering Springs -40mm (Front & Rear): £81.66 (inc vat)

Total: £170.86 + delivery

I've ordered from these guys plenty of times before. Very quick and very good value.

Not sure who makes the springs, but I have KYB standard shocks on my Bravo 1.2sx, and they're perfect. Very slightly firmer than the standard, and make the car ride on the button.

:)

jugs - i aint too sure about them anymore as u mentioned that nobody knws anything about them and i dnt wanna be the person to get them and find out they are rubbish for the sake of £40..

circolo - thats jus impressive..... think i'll have to call em up over the weekend

another vote for buypartsby (y) i've been using them for years, although they are just a motorfactor with a website, your local motorfactor can often beat their prices. if you havent asked at your local motorfactor yet slap yourself then look in the mirror and say "i am no longer a dirty evil internet only modder" and then get in the car and drive over to your motorfactor.

ok parts will be ordered next week... quick question tho if anybodys around... somebody sellin a set of AVO springs and all they knw is its for 1.6... will these be the same springs for a 1.2?? is there really alot of difference

oh well... i bought em anyway... they was on ebay and nobody had bid on em at all so i got them at the bargain price of 99 pence... plus £15 delivery...

if they dnt fit i'll be puttin em back on ebay..
