i do not have another key other than the standard blue one, do i need to have ecu wiped and new keys?, can the ecu have the immobiliser function disabled? could it be something else wrong?, cranks over but do not attempt to start, rac checked to see if fuel getting thru and tested the crank sensor, he reckons the injection is not working thus blaming the key, there is no key light on dash at all and the injectors light is permanently on.
Help!

this is reposted in appropriate section i will delete if necessary

same happened to me was fuel pump see it its coming on when turn key

also is ur key light on the dah on if so prob that

when you switch the ignition on does the key code light illuminate for a few secs then switch off? if that is the case then your key and immob are fine.

find out if the fuel pump is working, and if there is a spark on the plugs.

been to fiat, the immobiliser is the part which has failed, they have give me the emergency startup code which i havent worked out how to do yet, my key is not an original and apparently a clone, fiat say i can have immobiliser transponder box replaced which is about 90 quid but this is a "maybe fix" and i still have not got a real key in case this problem happens again, the other option is to have immobiliser disabled by someone. im trying to figure out best way to sort it, tony from data recall says that he may still be able to get codes out of the failed immobiliser and imput them into another one and possibly recreate a red key and standard one which i do not have.

does this all sem right?

cheers

you're in safe hands with tony (y)

another option is to get the ecu and transponder box and key code chips from a donor car. if you fit them all to your car then it will work. that is often the cheapest option, but finding all the matching parts from a single donor car is difficult. in your case you would also need to get keys cut a timpsons that use the donor car's codes and will also fit your current locks. getting keys cut will add another £75 so maybe decoding is the best option.

im assuming that i need a new immobiliser ecu regardless whether the original code can be scanned - so id still be looking to pay 90 quid for this then the cost to scan and install new codes, isnt their a way to disable the immobiliser permanently without having the car off the road at all?, im not too concerned about the security of it, i just need quickest and cheapest solution.

assuming fiat are correct (they usually aren't) and the immob ecu has actually failed, then yes you would, but it is far more likely that the immob ecu has a wiring fault in its circuit, often a bad connection at the fuse.

on my 1.6 bravo i could bypass the immob by giving the fuel pump a new earth, but i have since heard from other poeple that this hasn't worked on their cars because the sparkplugs do not spark, so i dont know if it applies to all models.
