Hi, first post as a new member and am hoping some of you experts can advise me. I have just purchased a Bravo HGT 155 on a T plate and have received both blue keys and the red key. My problem is the buttons on the blue keys don't lock the dorrs or arm/disarm the alarm etc, am not sure if there are meant to be seperate remotes for this or not. A light comes on in the key when the button is pressed but nothing happens, any ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated.

the light on the key tells you the remotes are transmitting, however sice neither the alarm or the locking is activated it suggests one of 3 main possibilities;

1. the receiver is faulty

2. the remotes are not paired to the car

3. the fuse has blown or there is a wiring fault in the car's circuit for the reciever or alarm

the reciever is in the interior light assembly. you can replace it with a scrapyard part as they are not coded.

on a T reg you dont get the remote codes so you cant program the remotes to work with your car, so if they are no longer paired to your car you are stuck.

check the alarm has power (check fuse), and it is switched on (switch is on interior fusebox).

Hi, thanks for the speedy response.

Is there an actual switch i should be looking for in the fusebox as i have looked briefly but can't seem to find any switches??

I have tried coding the remote to the sensor by holding in the button on the control unit by the interior light while pressing the key as described in the manual but have had no joy. The light on the control unit flashes as described in the book but stops as soon as i press the key??

Any other ideas greatly appreciated.

the switch uses a small round barrel key, it was at the top left of my fusebox if i remember correctly.

you're pressing the correct button for remote programming, but you need a 4 digit code to do it, and you wont have the code because they stopped providing them when the mk2 models were released, and as luck would have it you own the very first of the mk2 models (T reg). you could try asking at a fiat delaer to see if they can provide the remote codes, there should be 2 codes, both of them are 4 digits, but you only need one of the codes. the programming procedure to use when you have a code is described in detail in several previous threads, search for "remote programming"

Have asked my local Fiat dealer and their response was no hope, better off getting a new alarm installed and aftermarket ones are approximately a third of the price of the fiat equipment, so that's my only option by the looks of it. If anyone has any other suggestions then please let me know, otherwise Clifford her i come.

the other option is to get a matching set of both remotes and alarm from a donor bravo, brava or marea. then you fit the alarm (pass side wheel arch area i believe) and fit your immob chips and metal key bits to the remotes you bought, then bingo it all works. only problem is finding a donor car with working remote keys, its surprisingly difficult.

I read in another post that the unit above the mirror is not specifically coded to the alarm and if i can find a key and code matched to one of these units i can just replace it and then code in my existing remotes using the new code. Is this the case as i know it will be difficult to find one of these items with a key and code as well but will certainly start looking if true.

i believe it is the other way round and the unit above the mirror is not coded to anything, it is the alarm ecu that holds the codes, the receiver above the mirror simply receives the code and send it ot the alarm ecu, in the same way the aerial on the ignition switch simply reads the key code and sends it to the codebox (aka immob ecu).

however i could be wrong.

I researched this and even spoke to Fiat and the reciever behind the roof light is what lets the key work or not for the rcl and alarm. If you buy a brand new receiver, approx £250 it'll be in Virgin mode, thats what Fiat told me. Basically if you do the alarm key recode by pressing the button in the ceiling light, you can the program your existing key into it aslong as you have the four digit code for one key. Any additonal keys you can reprogram easily.

The siren is whats located behind the wing and possible ECU but i believe the reciever does all the key coding business to the alarm.

Thanks for all your help everyone. After getting some ideas of how much this is going to cost to fix i think i will defo be going for aftermarket toad or something equivalent with total closure for around the £200 mark seems the logical choice.

I've got a Toad Ai606 on my polo Can't fault it :D except don't let it get wet it goes mental ;)
