HELP!! i have 1.2i 16v Bravo, just had cluch, starter, head gasket,
wiper blads an repaired punture done and new prob just started.
Everytime i drop down from 3rd to 2nd it grinds, quite madly.
Any ideas on what it could be? could it be clutch prob again as it
dont feel right anyway?

if it grinds 3rd too 2nd then the 2nd gear syncro is probly worn, a dogey clutch could make it sound worse than it is but it seems unlikly if you had it replaced not long ago.

its box out + lots of labour too strip apart, that 2nd gear is right at the bottom of the box.

hasnt done it today yet so im keeping my fingers crossed!!! just had to get a new tyre today as i think tracking is out cos only badly worn on outer edge.
 
I recently had a change down to 2nd gear crunch problem on my 2000 1.2sx as well.
I lived with it untill I suddenly started to crunch in all gears, so I set about changing the clutch.
What I found was the release bearing is located on its fork by 2 plastic lugs which had sheared off. (what a s**te design)
This allowed the bearing to spin & it gradually ate its way through the pressure plate fingers till the fingers were to thin to do there job.
The new clutch cured all the selection problems but I made a big mistake.
I bought a cheap 3 part clutch (£75) & it judders slightly, is noicey & like yours doesn't feel right, allthough it works great.
The original clutch was a Borg & Beck the friction plate was hardly worn (37,000 miles).
In hindsight I should have bought a good quality clutch, now I am gonna have to do it again, wonder what my chances of a refund on the cheapo one are? :(

near enough all clutchs on that gearbox do that, i was told by a man at ap that its caused by a weak return spring in the clutch slave cylinder, ever time the clutch is operated the release bearing contacts the pressure plate and is accelerated up too flywheel speed. this contact eventually wears through the pressure plate.
when its operating correctly the clutch slave holds the bearing on the pressure plate constanly thus no wear.

syncros are a common problem with 1.2 16v bravo and bravas.

now got new prob< apart from windscreen cracked i noticed alot of oil on the road when i parked. seems to come from 0il filter and power steering pump. red oil under steering pump and brownie oil coated over oil filter. hard to tell where comming from as can see any dripping, oil has coated some of the under part of me car and just to my amazment cant see any level drop in engin oil, steering oil, or brake!!! HELP PLEASE this car is realy starting to P**S me off
 
hi there... ive got a similar problem but the other way round!

mine grinds when i go from 1st to 2nd especially if im raggin` it

to say grind its more of a clunk whats the problem there????

hi everyone.
i've got a bravo 1.6 and have just started having intermit. problem when trying to get into first and second.wont go in so have to pump clutch loads until i can force it in and when does go it grinds BAD,

Thought clutch was going, but have been advised i need a new clutch slave cylinder, but can't under stand why it's not all the time!!!!????

don't know if any help [?]
 
Sounds like you have my old gearbox!!!

Excepyt mine grinded from 1st to 2nd, turns out was the synchro and not worth repairing so I needed new box... Held out long enough for my engine to pack in so I found a new engine and box!! - mate that with the fact both clutches were screwed and that was a new clutch too!!!

So you haven't got it too bad!!!

Fix It Again Tomorrow.... - an mine hadn't been a prob till the second year came along...
