If you are stoped and the engine is running the temperature after a while is going to the middle or not? If it goes in the middle and then you move the car and the temperature falls, that means that your thermostat has stuck open and needs replacing! If not the above and you give a bang above the dash and the temperature goes to correct indication then i suggest you the link from the fiat BOO :
The problems that you are going to have is that the car sences that the temperature is under the willing and it consumes more gasoline(because it thinks that the engine is cold), and you propably in the future you are going to have a head gasket problem, so i advice you to fix it soon.I hope to short it out mate!
I have a Bravo 2001 1.2SX had it since last Friday and when I picked it up, the temp was halfway but when I drove it home, the temp dropped and it went cold! Very interested to read that its the thermostat...... Going to change it and see.....
