I've read a lot about this red key and how it may be necessary.
I've also read that fiat doesn't use this red key system anymore.
can anyone confirm if the brava 2000 x reg uses the red key system?

its very easy to check. have a look at the metal part of any of your keys. there will be a symbol that looks like a triangle with 2 circles coming out of it. if there is a number 2 or 3 next to that symbol then you dont have a red key. if there is not a number 2 or 3 then you have a fiat code system 1 car and so you will have a red key.

later fiat group cars used system 2, then system 3. these systems didnt use a red key, instead you only got 2 keys. this was the beginning of the days when you had to go to your dealer and pay a fortune for key progamming. i say bring back the red key.

but carnt you get some one eles to incode anouther key if you lost one or get anouther ecu ????

you can copy a red or a blue key before you lose it (e.g. at timpsons), but obviously not after you lose it.

or get anouther ecu ????
yes, you can fit another ecu, but you also need the codebox and keys and locks and they all need to come from the same car. i would only do this if all keys were lost or if there was an immob system fault or ecu fault.

I also buy my bravo without red key. But until now i don't have a problem. Is that a problem that i don't have that key and what is for?

it is only a problem if you lose your blue keys (so keep spare copies!!) because the red key is needed to teach your immob new blue keys. a copy of a blue key wont require the red key because a copy is exactly the same code so the immob cant tell the difference.

have you checked if it really is a red key (and not a blue clone)?

if you insert it in the ignition and switch ignition on, wait till code light goes off, then switch ignition off and back on again, the key code light should now remain illuminated (instead of switching off like it normally does). if it doesnt stay illuminated then you dont have a red key.

timpsons can cut a new key using either of your blue keys, then code it using the red, then you'll have a new red key. it is very important that they use the code on your original red key.
