| Banned | What the hell else is it then? Finally got hold of a new ignition coil today and proceeded to fit it to the bravo. Turns out it wasnt the ignition coil at fault afterall as the problem is still there ![]() Anyone any other ideas what could be at fault? Symptoms are exactly the same as if half of the ignition coil has failed. Noisy running, down on power (firing on 2 cylinders), smell of fuel (unburnt in 2 cylinders) and general crap idle which stalls easily. On further inspection and a bit of trial and error I think one of the leads/sparks isnt work as with it disconnected, the engine still runs the same. Although tbh its hard to tell as it runs **** anyway and the idle isnt steady. Ive taken the lead off and inspected it and all seems fine so im not sure. Any other ideas?

Haynes doesnt actually tell me how to retime the engine.. or atleast I cant find it anywhere. Any idea where the timing marks are on the engine?

| this is where i stand | Re: What the hell else is it then? hmm.. i just had a look and all i found was this http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk/cambelt-guide.htm which doesnt help with timing, as it assumes it is already timed.. erm.. dodgy injector, blown HG? I've got a compression tester if you wanna borrow that?

Im leaving it till the weekend now anyway. gonna take out the sparks and check them over etc just to make sure they are still in one piece etc. did a quick test taking the HT leads off 1 by 1 and every other lead except 1 stalled the engine so ill check that first. It isnt HG as no oil/water contamination etc.

| blessed are the apostates | Re: What the hell else is it then? my GF's mk2 punto sporting had head gasket failure a few weeks ago, it blew between 2 cylinders. there was no loss of oil or coolant, or mixing between the 2. compression test is first thing to do if you find you have a spark on all 4 plugs (visually check each one) | ||
