Hello all!

Injector probs again (!). Have 2000 (W) Bravo 1.6 16v which is causing me problems that are currently doing my head in....... I've read all previous posts regarding injector probs which have given me some ideas of what might be wrong with my motor, but some of the issues with my particular car appear unusual. I'm completely thick when it comes to anything technical, so am relying on a recommended mechanic to be carrying out the cheaper, logical diagnostics first before moving on.

Cutting to the chase ....
  • Car hasn't been used for about 9 months, since I was diagnosed with epilepsy and hence banned from driving.
  • Failed MOT on emissions 'cos was only running on 3 cylinders.
  • Diagnostic test by local garage came up with 'faulty injector'.
  • Red faulty injector light illuminated on dash.
  • So far the following has been carried out by brother: sparks changed (apparantely in a bad way) & coil changed (was split, I think).
  • Recommended mechanic cleaned leads (I think) and reported everything now working.
  • MOT retest failed again on emissions as car back on 3 cylinders!.
  • I then added a shed load of Redex and filled up with Esso Super and drove the car at decent revs for a couple of hours in the hope of running it back in. After a while, the car stopped misfiring and got above 3000 revs for 1st time since being started after the 9 months. Injector warning light actually went off for a short period also.
  • Car back into mechanic, who says car is now running on and off 2, 3 and 4 cylinders!
Love my car but frustrated beyond belief with it now. Any ideas on why it might be running on various numbers of cylinders and possible fixes? Worth changing all cylinders or is it likely to be an underlying problem? Mechanic says that PartCo (or similar) would need current injectors removed to identify serial number (?) before new ones could be ordered, but has also suggested that used injectors could be ordered from old Bravo, making sure that it is exactly same year, cc etc.....

If not worth fixing, how much do you fellow fiat people recommend I put Bravo W reg, 67,000 miles, 1.6 16v Trofeo (badged as 100SX, but trofeo on reg doc?) with no MOT, tax etc.

Sorry to be a pain & thanks for all your help.

it sounds like its suffering from the amazingly common injector failure fault, diagnose and replace the injectors, if you cant do it yourself then find someone who can, give them the instructions in previous posts to help, and get some scrapyard injectors cheaply. a multimeter will tell you the state of the injectors in 1 minute.

its worth about a grand with tax and test and fuly working, in its current state its worth about £350 if you're lucky. i may give you £350 if you're in the north east.
