I have a problem with my steering.

Im wondering if anyone has this problem and maybe a fix, im going to drop it into a garae any but i would like to know before i go in.

For a start the steering wheel is very loose when im driving in a straight line, the car tends to move to the left when it hits any little bump in the road.I was thinking the tracking but i got that check about two weeks ago and its fine, also when i break coming into a corner steering is out of the question as it all locks up, when i leave the break go its fine and it turns away grand.

Anyone that had this problem or has any ideas, im all hears

thanks.

when you brake the engine rpm drops, this means the PAS pump turns more slowly. if your pump has low fluid or is damaged or has a faulty relief valve you may find that assistance is greatly reduced at low rpm. test by turning when stationary at idle rpm, if it is harder to turn compared to when stationary with 4000rpm you know there is a problem. this would also explain why your steering feels so much lighter when moving forward, steering is naturally lighter when moving, but usually you dont notice because your power steering compensates at lower speed.

There is def a problem, it has got worse in the last few days,i didn't feel the steering wheel move at all when i first got it ( 3 months or so) , till last Friday and ever since it has got worse.

example: if i break going into and on the duration of the corner the wheels will automatically turn into the corner if its on a hill and it shouldn't do that. i mean like it jerks into the corner and the other day i was driving into a corner and i went to break and turn into the corner and the car just kept going straight until i left the breaks off and then it turned, aldo i was on the wrong side of the road at this point.lol.

i have been driving it all weekend and it hasn't been to bad, im going to go tomorrow about the prob. i need the car, im in work so i need to get home like, im taking it handy and its not bad when the car is going, its braking and turning at the same time.it seriously wrong.

Best to get in in pronto. You can be charged with driving a vehicle unfit for use on the roads. A MOT is not proof that it's roadworthy.

Sounds like it could be heavily worn suspension bushes. Maybe even failed rear trailing arm bearings.

I have it booked in for Wednesday morning, hopefully a solution can be found then and amended, Don't need a big drawn out problem.

It always in the back of my mind when im driving, that something could go wrong with it.as u can imagine.

Quick and cheap fix would be a brilliant.

THanks
