Hi Im new to the forum, only had my car a few days but was shocked when i went through a full tank of fuel in 240 miles which i think was 30 mpg. Is ths normal for a 1.4 as I beleive theyre not the most economical engines?
Also when i start it either hot or cold the idle becomes rough and when i set of it nearly dies then picks up.

Any help greatly appreciated:)

I have noticed the same on my Brava, leads me to believe that its fairly normal. My idle also a little rough and when i set off from my driveway it seems to almost die, however if i set off from any other location its fine!!! I'd also like to know if anyone has the facts on this subject!

Well ive had another look cos im determined not to be beat. bet youre all laughing.

The engine is idling very fast, so I think it is anyway, 1100 rpm even when the cars warm. Is this normal?

Also Ive just been out for a drive, the injector light came on but it seemed to drive normally but when i pulled up the revs dropped to 800 rpm. Its also running very cold on the temp guage ie onr bar above cold.

Any ideas??

If you have taken it for a good drive and the temp gauge hasnt moved much it could be your thermostat thats gone.

As for the idling my 1.2SX does exactly the same.
Dont know if this helps much but I get about 300 miles per tank around town and about 420 per tank on a long run

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines

i had a similar problem with my brava 1.4sx

when i start it after a few miles the injector light would light up , and the engine is without power. i have to stop and turn the engine of and on again in order to get the revs right . then all is ok.

last service i flushed the radiator coolant and cleaned the thermostat, also i changed the oil and air filters . till now the injector light has lighted only once but the tempretaure gauge is in the middle after few seconds that i start the engine. my only problem left is the consumption as i am seeing it at 160 miles , i am suspecting that the lambda sensor is at fault , causing the engine to run very rich , thus using more fuel in the mixture.

what do you think?

The 1.4 is very bad on fuel. For figures see the bravo-guide http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk/run-a-bravo.htm#part7

My fuel Consumption is about the same as jmcservv's. I'm going to take it to the tuners and get it sorted out. jmcservv, if you find a cure for this let me know mate :)

these are small... the ones out there are far away

Stop moaning, On a bad (good) day i get 18 mpg from my HGT! but its worth it.

Yeah but thats a 2lr 20v 5cyl engine compared to a 1.4 12v engine. at least you get the performance with the lack of econ ;)

me on the otherhand get the econ with the lack of major performance ;)
