Ok so the time has come for the HGT to get its belts, tensioners and clutch changed. And give it a full service while its out. Going to be doing it ourselves, with my mech friend. Will have access to an engine hoist and 4 axle stands 2 large garage jacks, and all the usual tools.

What i need is a list of all the parts i need to order. And anything else i should be doing while i have the engine out. Also advice on what to watch out for etc would be great.

Also is it worth getting the timing tools? Or can anyone lend me them?

I'll take pics and post them up here. It'll be being done quite soon.

Regarding the clutch here is my guide from when I did my Coupe 20v clutch. Cars chassis wise, are the same so should serve you well.

:chin: I would change the water pump while your there, as its driven by the cam belt and would be a crying shame not to. All auxillery/idler pulleys are worth changing. If the gearbox is coming off and the clutch is being done then it might be worth taking the flywheel off and checking the rear crankshaft oil seal . Changing the inlet cam advance variator as well might be an idea also.

my only question is how did you then get the box from between the chassis and subframe? me and jimbo had enough trouble getting on off when we didnt care what it took to get it out lol

You drop the subframe by 45 degrees. The box will just clear.

I love this quote. When I did the coupe the box just wouldn't clear. Its the annoying inch or less that bottoms the box out. You start looking at the sledge hammer leant up at the back of the garage
As above I removed the front subframe bolts and loosened or removed the rears. Basically I removed the minimum amount to let me pivot it down this thinking about it might have been all the bolts With this done you also get better access to rear gearbox steady mount. The sub frame will then drop down at the front. By Gum it just goes

try torque italia for performance clutch, i paid £300 at a local garage and they fitted it, that was for clutch and fitting and i got the car back the next day. im in doncaster if you want the garages details
