Bravo goes in for its MOT on tuesday. It passed its MOT last year but I am pretty certain it will fail this year. I have to change my brake light bulb but the exhaust has been a little rattly so think it might fail on the exhaust.

brakes and tyres should be ok, they are new but place your bets on a Fiat passing twice in a row

pfffttttt it'll pass no probs (y) just change the bulb and replace the exhaust

:D

well the exhaust is a tough one, it was the same last year and it passed just was advised that it needed new tyres and brakes. Only had them changed in march

Brake pipes are prone to corrosion so this is a maybe.....

I am now conjuring up a list of what could fail

Two in a row? Shabash! has passed 6 in a row Sammi. Have faith (and get it to an exhaust place to check where the rattle is first) and she'll be fine. ;)

My 1.2 16v passed twice first time :D
My JTD passed twice, first time :D
My Uno passed twice, first time :D
My little sister's 1.2 16v passed, first time :D

Good look sammi.

knew it :bang: :(

failed on three corroded brake pipes (n)

Also failed on emmissions.

I have booked it in for a service to hope that will clear the emmissions. They were 0.9 so three times over :(

Got a feeling i might need a "new" cat - how much am i looking at for that?

So far it will have cost me in theory £300 - MOT, Service and new brake pipes

Bad luck, you don't seem to agree with MOTs!

Use

www.buypartsby.co.uk for catalyst price, remember to go through to check out for delivered price then compare to local prices. TBH I doubt you will find much cheaper, I never beat their prices and they are cheaper delivered than collecting..

I am going to waxoyl mine again once it dries out properly I think.

i doubt a service will help unless your air filter is blocked or your plugs/leads are old and worn.

the clue is always in the figures, you say you had 0.9, i assume that is for CO.

that would suggest overfueling (a faulty lambda or weak spark)

if you also had high O2 then i would think the cat could be faulty, but i'd check for exhaust leaks first.

its hard to say without the full emissions test results for CO, O2 and HC, it also helps a lot to have a lambda reading.

As far as MOT's go would a broken fixing on one of the headlights constitute a fail?

I have got it secured in place with a bolt and a large washer so it catches what little plastic is left on the fixing and the light is held in place, just.

Just trying to work out how much my impending MOT is likely to cost me.

one of my marea headlights is only held on with the balljoint and a single clip, and thats a clip i made for it. both the original ones snapped off. it still passed its MOT. the tester checked to see if it was secure by wiggling it, it hardly moved so i passed.

here's a pic of the bracket i made, its just a bit of sheet aluminium painted black and held on by a couple of rivets that are fixed into a couple of small holes i drilled in the headlight case. its very easy to do, try it (y)

I was missing the one at the other end, looks like you are too, the one nearest the radiator, but i thought the same, as long as it stays in place it should be ok, cheers
