The starter motor is bolted to the gearbox.

I think it should be at the back end of the box over the drivers side drive shaft where it enters the box.

If you already have a replacement one then take a look at it and note where the bolt holes are. I think the bolts are 13mm and there should be 3

The one thing to be careful about when removing the wires to the starter.
is it's a live. You do not want it to come in contact with anything which is earthed, this means ant metal. So be careful and take your time. I often sheath the wire or if you know your radio code disconnect the battery.

Read the guides and when you do this job be logical and note the placement of things you have removed.

yep what Bridges and Jug said

if you get the car in the air and get under it get yur head up behind the engine, at the back of the engine bay.

the starter motor is bolted to the gearbox by 3 13mm bolts, usually 2 on the starter end and the 3rd is usually through the gearbox into the starter. wires should be a 10 mm bolt and a 13mm bolt, the 13 being the live, so tape it up once disconnected to stop it shorting on anything

the only thing im not 100% sure on is wether the manifold needs removing first as its the only engine in the bravs with a rear exit manifold (read where the starter is) and i cant remember how easy it is to remove the starter (last time i worked on a 1600 the entire engine and box came out so just disconnected the starter motor (wires) and whipped the manifold off to remove it

Starter motor's on the front of the engine block mate.

Jack the front up and you'll see it clear as day, three 13mm bolts and the starter wiring and it's off. (y)

Personally I'd disconnect the battery earth before unbolting the starter wiring- if the rachet touches anything metal while undoing it you'll have a pretty display of sparks in your face!

done it, took 20 minutes and was easy enough!
