Does any1 have something like this fella?

How would you do it - split before or behind the last muffler?

Or... fake it? Like a guy I know on his Laguna. :D
 
how it is done should depend more on the location of the fuel tank and spare tyre well and axle.

on a brava the best way to do it is to chop off the original backbox, leaving the pipe rearward of the axle. at that point a split pipe should be joined, connecting the new left side backbox onto one split, and on the other split a length of pipe in a stretched S shape going to connect at the other side to anther backbox.

dont underestimate how small (short) the right side backbox will need to be to stay clear of the fuel tank. also carefully consider where the mounts are going to be welded and what shape you need the join pipe to be bent at. i usually practice using some metal wire to make a first draft template for all piping, hold both backboxes in place when you bend some wire into the correct shape. also mark places for mounts and check those spots are suitable for welding.

you need to maintain at least a 2 inch gap between fuel tank and exhaust because the tank is only plastic and there is no heat shield fitted where the new parts will go. when in traffic the amount of heat coming from the exhaust can be considerable, i would fit a heatshield to be on the safe side.

Wonder how they emissions test that! Must need two hoses going to the sensor.

Twin exhausts can sound good, sort of Stereo soundtrack.. Fake is bad though. Especially when you've just started in the cold and everyone behind you can see there is no steam rising out of it :D

Doesnt necessarily mean that it's fake though does it? iirc most twin exit exhausts usually only steam out of one box when the temperature is very cold. It's the box that is part of the most direct route of the exhaust system.

Meaning that if your exhaust system is slightly off centre (usually runs off to the passenger side of the car) then until the car has warmed up the majority of the steam will come from the passenger side backbox.

I could be wrong though :eek: This is just what I remember hearing some time back.

badly designed systems with uneven backpressure between both exits will do that. flow always takes the easiest route, so you need to make sure both routes have even backpressure. if you use thinner pipe on one side you can even it out easily. the other option is what they do on most cars that have twins when new, one backbox has greater back pressure than the other so overall it evens out. good example of that it the mondeo st200, you can see the same pipe is used but different backboxes are fitted (i once tried to fit this to an escort, with limited success :eek:)
not bothering to get it right is just lazy.
