there are only 2 types of CDA, Type 1 (for engines up to 1.6) and Type 2 (for bigger than 1.6). Each type is also available in different diameters for connecting to the intake (diameter is given in model number).

as a general rule of thumb, you can make any CDA fit any car, especially a 1.6 bravo, but its easier of you get one with the correct diameter for your intake pipe.

since the CDA is an enclosed filter, you can try to take advantage of increased air pressure. you need to have a well positoned intake at the front of the car (with clear path to oncoming airflow). the CDA usually comes with a piece of black alloy duct pipe that you can use to connect to an intake scoop (or just have the end of the duct in the path of oncoming air).

the problem with the CDA's is the lack of noise. they arent silent, but they arent exactly K&N sexual.

end of the day, a CDA is just a standard cotton filter like you can buy on ebay for a tenner, but its stuck in a carbon fibre box. how much of a difference that box makes depends completely on the air supply to it. a badly position intake to the CDA will increase intake restrictions and actually make it worse than an open filter, but if the CDA gets plenty of air supply when the car is moving it will increase the air pressure and the end result is better than an open filter, but either was it makes bugger all real difference imo.

why not contact oldschool and see if he'll sell you a GSR kit for the money you're willing to spend (same as a CDA kit).

ive realised, that link is for a bmc 'type', very clever its not an actual bmc.

hmmm, im unsure i dont know what to get, but ive just been talked round to getting a panel filter instead as its cheaper and just as good. i really dont know. i want an bhp increase even if it only slight, some noise and i want it cheap...... help

if you fit a panel filter you will need to drill the airbox to get any noise.

then about 3 weeks later you'll remove it to fit an induction kit, it happens almost every time. :)
