Right so I ordered some Jamex 40mm springs for the HGT.

A plain white DHL box arrived today, opened it up and the springs are their, no other documents just the springs in a white box.

Here's where the stupid question comes in, the springs are black... is this right? Are the Jamex lowering springs meant to be black?

Usually I would just compare them to the standard springs but they're still on the car at the moment and I dont want to go through the hassle of removing one of the shocks to find that they've sent me the wrong springs.

Can anyone help?

Right I ordered the exact same type of spring as you Si, jamex 40mm drop! They came last week in a jamex box ( white but with red writing ) and the springs should be red!
Strange thing is that I got and email the day they turned up on saying they had run out of stock and I would have to wait 10 days! And on saturday I got another email saying they had just been sent. Even though I had them delivered some days before! Could sort a deal with you if they turn up (y)

I've just phoned the company who I bought them from and they have told me that they are the correct springs.

He said something about all of the new stock of springs are coming in black now.

I guess I shall take their word for it, take the plunge and remove the old springs.

Jami do you have any coding on your springs? I have 75558/Front and 76291/Rear

I dont know if it helps but heres a picture of one of the fronts and one of the rears:

I did notice there are a couple of red paint markings on the springs.

*Excuse the amount of crap and the poor decorating in the room, I really need to clean the computer room out at some point *

Thanks again Jami (y)

I dont know if that helps much but your rear spring looks similar to mine (tightly wound at the bottom) and I jacked the car up a little while ago and had a look. The new springs appear to be wound slightly tigher than the old ones.

I shall find out tomorrow night hopefully, will get the old springs off and compare.

Btw who's the girl dude? She the bonus prize with the springs? ;)

Helz, what do you mean exactly, get in touch with RaceDynamics2U or get in touch with Jamex themselves?

I have already spoken to RaceDynamics2U who have assured me that they are indeed the correct springs.

best bet would be to remove the rears (most likely alot easier than the fronts) and just compare. they look new anyway so atleast they havent sent you a second hand pair of standard springs :p

Are there no markings or writing on them atall? Seems strange. All (or atleast all ive ever seen/used) have atleast a code or there brand name stamped on the spring.

Weird

p.s. She is fit :p

Jamex themselves - the third party could be passing off cheap springs as branded ones. It's happened to me before (admittedly computer memory but same thing - I bought a brand and they sent me generic stuff). As Bushboy says, I would be expecting some markings!

Chris, I havent removed the rear spring but I jacked the rear of the car up quite high to take as much compression off the spring as possible and the standard spring definately isnt wound tight light the new rear spring.

As for coding, I posted above the coding that they have on them.

Im pretty sure they are the right ones tbh, I just got a little bit thrown by the fact that they're black as apposed to red (which is what I expected them to be).

Yeah yeah Jami, "by accident" :p lol just kidding mate :)
