Hello,

I'm fairly new on here. My parent's Fiat Panda 2007 1.1 Active was involved in a minor accident earlier this week. I've not seen the damage but it was described to me over the phone.

In short, it needs a new o/d front door and wing. Both parts are repairable with some panel beating and paint.

There appears to be some minor wheel damage too, perhaps some suspension parts need doing.

The Black Taxi that hit the car while trying to overtake on the wrong side escaped withouT damage!

A North London based Fiat Specialist are quote £1200 for the repairs. I don't want the car to be written off, but their estimate sounds bonkers. Do you think the price is being increased as this is 'an insurance job'? I can't help but think private work carries a lower labour rate.

Urgent advice sought.
Thanks in advance.

That doesn't sound too bad: earlier this year, my mate pranged his 2011 Seat ibiza, and he had a new wing, headlight, bumper and radiator, and the repair cost 4k!

Well I'm hoping the sweet little car is not written off.

Who do you suggest for cheap original Fiat parts?

With best wishes,

Hi,
no insurance repair will be cheap enough to save the car.., :(

other option is take insurance pay-out, then buy car back for @£200 and fix panels yourself, car would have a CATEGORY Marker.., but only really an issue on resale,

BUT beware of the cost involved in any insurance claims..!!

The insurance company are happy to pay up to 100% of the value of the car, towards the costs. Question now is, can a 2007 Fiat Panda be worth £1200? I think so... although the 'book value' will no doubt be lower.

Speaking to the engineer on Monday... will report back.

How many miles has the car done?

Around 60k... or thereabouts. Good service history. A tidy little thing that suits my parents needs very well.

I'd say it's probably worth 2.5k. Last year, I traded in a 10 year old Punto 1.2 Active with 60k on the clock, and much to my surprise, the dealer stuck it in their showroom for £1995!!

nope, ;)
the reason I've got a 57 plate 1.1 Panda is my niece was offered it's £1100 book against a Mini,

so I paid the £1100 for a panda with 55/k, and she got a better CASH deal on the Mini..

Hello,

I require suspension parts and the upper mounting kit, following this accident. Is ECP ok for such parts? I think I'll get Bilstein parts. I presume Fiat suspension parts are made by them or Sachs.

With best,

Hi again,

this should help;
http://eper.fiatforum.com/eper/navi...INT_MODE=0&EPER_CAT=SP&GUI_LANG=3&WINDOW_ID=1

ECP are o.k.,
you can get discounts Via their EBAY pages (carpart4less) - and FREE delivery,

also worth contacting shop4parts as their FF members discount really helps,

Charlie

Is this a good price:

Fronts shocks
Upper mounts
Both lower wishbones

£375 plus VAT?

That includes the above parts plus 2 hours of labour at £150.
