Hi There All

The Drivers Door And O/s rear check Strap are Missing and ive found One Of Them Laying Inside The Bottom Of The Drivers Door When I Replaced The Window Mechanism,

So i Tried To Refit It And it Keeps Catching The Window Inside The Door When its Open So Is There A right And Wrong Way To Refit These As I cant Put it Back On

I Haven't Looked inside The Rear Door As Yet But I Could Find The Same Thing There Too

Any advice On This

Pete....

Hi Pete,

I think I have a similar issue on my 3dr Stilo Dynamic. The passenger side door swings fully out and makes a crack noise when going past a point. The metal check bar appears to have sheared, which I'd like to fix.

I Vaguely remember reading on here recently that it's simple isn to do. You remove the door card, then the speaker and that gives you access to the part of the door required.

There is also a Stilo service CD thing, which details how to get to the check bars and swap them. But people said that it was a longer winded process following that guide.

I need to find a check bar first. The replacements are plastic and I want a metal one.

Hi,
as stilopete says,

it's a fiddly job,

has it ALL disappeared from the vgap between car body , and door frame..??,
as I can't quite see how you'd still get a "crack noise" if nothing was connected,

in my experience of door generally, wear in the 6mm pin that secures the strap to the cars A pillar, can induce a loud CRACK / pistol shot from the door area..!!

Hi CHarlie,

It hasn't disappeared. It is still attached to the door. But I do get a loud crack...

I'll get a pic tomorrow. If I upload it can you advise me further?
