Hope you guys can help me with this.

2 weeks some "kind" person decided to spray paint stripper on my Wife's Fiat 500 Twinair plus. She bought it used but spent 7 months finding her ideal motor and had it 5 days before it was damaged. She has just been informed its a write off by the insurers as the bodyshop want £5500 to respray it. She paid £7000 for the car and has been offered £6700 or £5200 and keep the car.

Paint has peeled off part of rear quarter passenger side, roof, hatchback and rear bumper, some minor blemishes to bonnet and passenger door but drivers side is untouched.

Is it worth retaining the vehicle, does she have the option to get a second opinion and request insurers (AA/Royal Sun Alliance) foot the bill if it's an economic repair or is wrapping an option.

Hope you guys can help as she's heartbroken.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Post in insurance section, one of the brokers on there should be able to advise you

Not really as brokers sell insurance, rarely get too involved in the claims side.

OP personally I'd retain it and take the lower payout. Then either repair yourself at a cheaper place and pocket the difference. Wrap it and keep the difference, or sell it on as is for about £4k looking at the crazy 500 salvage values on eBay and then buy another and still pocket the difference (y)
