I recently noticed that the paint on my front bumper was beginning to flake just to one side of the grille badge. On closer inspection I could actually peel the paint from the bumper from the patch outwards. Fiat dealer said that it is not covered by any warranty and as a good will gesture they would smart repair it, to which I reluctantly agreed too. The results are awful!
I rang Fiat customer services to complain about the paint "defect" and explained about the smart repair and that my bumper is now peeling at the bottom as well. After they liased with the dealership they agreed that it is not covered by warranty but as a good will gesture they will send me a £150 voucher to spend at a Fiat approved bodyshop with a repair quote of £360 minus the voucher.
My question is......is there any way an independent body shop could prove one way or another if this is a paint defect or just crazy sized stone chips??
Calling all body shop experts please :)

This is peeling like wallpaper and is the size of a 50pence piece revealing bare plastic. Just seems like the bumper hasn't been prepared properly before spraying. A google search reveals a lot of cases like this in America but I cannot find similar complaints in the UK. Very odd.

Sorry to comment on an old thread, but I am currently experiencing this issue with my 2015 Fiat 500S. Similar to you, it appears the bumper hasn't been prepared properly before spraying (no primer etc...). Like you said, google reveals a lot of cases like this in America but no similar complaints in the UK (until coming across this thread).

On one hand, the Fiat dealer is telling me the bumper is original and has not been removed from the car but on the other hand, they are telling Fiat Customer Care that the car would not have come out of the factory that way and thus Fiat are refusing to help.

Unfortunately, I am the second owner of the car and they are playing that to their advantage as I cannot prove it hasn't been previously repaired and resprayed, but surely the bumper would have had to have been removed to do this?

I am no mechanic/ car expert so can only go by what I am told by the 'professionals' but was wondering if you had any success with Fiat or if anyone else has had the same issues since?
