Ok I don't know what way to explain it but have a look at the pictures and advise what would be the best course of action, without having to bring it to a garage of some sorts, it'll be a home job because I don't have loads of money :)

Bought this car in Feb and didn't notice this until we tried to move the wipers down because they're way too high on the windscreen. Anywho, took the wiper off in the end and low and behold there's a big rusted hole under the huge washer and about 4 washers on the wiper mechanism underneath the hole, I don't know if they should be there or not.

Don't mind the grey crap, my partner decided to try putty cuz, well cuz she thought she broke the whole thing and this would fix it  but we were wondering if fastglass fibreglass kit from halfords would be worth a shot, would it hold everything in place and fill the hole??

Any help at all would be great :)

eitherway a repaint will be needed i would have thought

Either cut the rust metal out and get a small plate welded in - ground down and painted

Or as said get the worst cut out and filled with fibreglass

Ziggy

Thanks for your reply Ziggy,

Would that fibreglass kit hold the wiper mechanism or will it all eventually crumble?

Can you weld a plate behind it with the correct sized hole in, then fill & paint?

Behind as in underneath it? I'm not going to lie, I haven't a clue about cars but I can only barely fit my hand under that part with the hole, have no idea if there's another way to make more room to look at it
