| Dent in 3 door stilo, and falling of side bumper! Hi to all. As mentioned in my previous posts, I'm pretty new to driving and Stilo's so please be patient!! It would appear that on the drivers side of my 3 DR 1.2 Stilo (the 'rear' wing where the door would be..) - I have been hit in the night whilst parked. There is a nice dent in the centre of this back panel, which looks awful, + a nasty dent lower down the panel where there is a design cut-away. I've managed to disguise this all to a certain extent with T-Cut, but when the light shines on the dents... it looks pretty awful. Had a guy do me quote today.... estimated £500 to £600!!! He described that he would need to "remove the rear seats" and peel the fabric away to be able to access the panel.... after which he would you a special tool to remove the dents, and then have to respray the whole of the drivers side as well as glue-ing the side bumpers (not sure of technical name sorry) back on which seem to be hanging in there. This seems elaborate. Is there a better way?? Can i not 'pull' the dent out with something? I tried a cheap dent remover..... it tries to pull the dent out, but it simply pops back in afterwards. Any advice much appreciated... I may try and get a picture on here tomorrow.

| Back once again w'the... | Re: Dent in 3 door stilo, and falling of side bumper! Paintless Dent Removal - also called 'Smart' repair techniques - have worked wonders for me in the past. You ring up a number from the yellow pages and a guy turns up with a van full of special divining rods (long shiny things with strange hooks and kinks). Then he sticks a fluorescent yellow mirror, and a light, onto the panel - gains access through a hole somewhere, and 'tweaks' the dents out. Works really well for impacts ('round' dents), not so well for scrapes - takes just minutes for round dents and possibly up to an hour for a scrape, plus in the case of the latter you tend to have a number of small dimples that masquerade as 'orange peel' in the paint (paint on modern cars tends to have a lot of orange peel anyway, so this isn't such a bad thing). Best part is that the paint stays original - no dodgy masking/resprays - and cost should be in the order of 60-90 pounds for a few dents, I'd guess (it's $100 in our money). -Alex
