Why would you need your door blended? Is there rust on it as well? You get spray cans of metallic paint. That rust treatment stuff is good that Helz suggested for the really small areas where sanding down etc would be overkill.

I have no bladdy idea. Like I said everyone is telling me something different..its gettin quite frustrating. i'm gona have a look for that rust treatment stuff. I was told that because its metalic, it means its harder to get it to match and blend in etc....I really dont know. I think im gona go with the buy a wing idea.

well yes, that probably is true, if you resprayed a panel it would be a darker, deeper unfaded silver next to the old faded silver, so you have to have it blended in, but if you buy a second hand silver wing, chances are that it is also faded so you get a near perfect match :)

My silver 85 needed spray on the wing due to some chav c**ts throwing cones while i drove past....(left a scrape from the 85 badge to the fuel filler) most came out with t-cut but the wing needed spraying.....my dad did it with the standard cans of spray in steel grey.... its the same colour as the car...you cant see it now tho it needs lacquering to remove the roughness....you dont need to blend it if they use the right colour...just work to the crease along the wing and the door panel gap.....the light falls on each surface differently anyway and silver doesent fade like normal fiat crappy paints so no need

I'd ask around your mates to borrow some rustkiller - the good stuff has been out of production for the last year or so and the new stuff is no patch on it :( Jenolite is a well-known name.

When buying paint, hunt around for somewhere that can colour match it for you to the exact shade, not just the paint code. If you're doing a small, easily visible area, yes the paint will be impossible to blend - which is why I wondered how much of the arch was affected. I've worked on only the arch bit itself, so none of my work is visible when stood looking at the car, meaning I can concentrate on doing as much as possible, as opposed to the 'look' of the end result. But yes, matching new wing might be easier - depends how much there is to do I guess! For a few small spots like I had, probably wouldn't be worth it. While you're doing one, check round the other arches as well, make sure they aren't affected. For the bonnet, use a make-up brush and spray a bit of paint into the lid and paint it on. Or use matching nail varnish, which is what I used when the car was silver

I have a silver 3DR in the scrappy near me with a good set of wings ( and doors  ), i could probably get he wing of that if it didnt distort like most do with the seal and having to pull it off. Its finding one off ebay that is actually straight after its been pulled off, which you really can only tell when you offer the wing up to the inner arch, as its curved.
