Blue & Me - Tech Info and questions and answers

Hi Rob,

I'm afraid the same problem is frustrating me - it's not just iPods - it doesn't seem to cope with track numbers on anything through the USB port.

If you want albums played in the correct order you can burn about 10 at a time to an MP3 disc and these play correctly.

Good luck.

Rob

Hi fellas

I found too that it doesn't cope with track numbers. I got around that by creating playlists - problems solved :)

In that case does anyone know of quick way of creating playlists? I've got 350+ albums so it could take an eternity!!

The strange this is that a couple of albums do play in the correct order and i can't find any difference between them and the other albums. Would it be better if i just used a USB flash drive (maybe a 4GB)? Do they play the tracks in the correct order because the files are placed directly onto them, and ofcourse each individual file in iTunes is labelled .01 .02 .03 etc?

Have you checked to see if the track numbers are programmed into the MP3 files? Most of the albums on my iPod have the track numbers entered and they play in the correct order - hope this helps (y)

Do you know an easy way to do this, as previously stated i've got over 350 albums on my iTunes now and all of these go on my iPod?

I have just bought a Grande Punto Ltd Edition car with Blue & Me but I can't get the car to read my text messages to me - there is no menu option for this? Any help would be welcome. Thanks!

You need to download the 'message reader' software.

I think it can be found on www.fiat.com

NO MEDIA FOUND message - how to sort it out!

Hello all - my GP130 is going in next week to have the bluetooth connection sorted (it's mysteriously stopped working having previously been fine and no amount of re-pairing and deleting users will sort it - does the same with other phones too so not my Samsung P300's fault...

ANYWAY - I think I've found a foolproof way to sort out issues with the mp3 USB side of things - if you've suddenly started getting a No Media message when you want to browse, WHILST quite happily playing form the stick, there are two things to do (I am not entirely sure if you need both, but if you do both, I think you'll get things going again).

Firstly, make a change to the FAT (file allocation table) on your USB stick - to do this just plug it into your PC and delete/add an extra folder so something's changed.

Secondly, plug it back into the car and let it start playing again (light on the USB stick should be flashing to show access). Once playing PAUSE it (with the MUTE key on the steering wheel) so you're stopping the system reading data directly (check the light has stopped flashing on your USB stick). Go into the Media Player menu and select Folders - you should now get a message telling you to wait whilst the system builds the media library. Once done, after about 10 seconds for a 4G stick, you should be able to browse all your tunes again.

Let me know if this works for you...

Hi all,

Recently purchased a grande punto sporting 1.4 16v. Have had it for 2 months now. Very happy with the drive (apart from minor bits falling off it and some dodgy trim on the outside).

My Major gripe is with the blue and me stuff.

Worked fine when I first had the car, phone paired up perfectly, voice stuff all worked.

Had major problems first connecting my ipod, then when I did it wouldn't play any tracks. Realised I had to change the muisc format, so I've done this now. Still doesn't work the way I'd like it to, can't get it to play playlists etc.

Now the major problem with the whole system. Recently the whole thing hasn't been working at all. I would be listening to music through the ipod, phone and buttons on steering wheel all working fine. Then it would cut out, switch to radio and then come back on as aux. At this time phone stops working, steering wheel controls stop working and Ipod carries on playing through aux (although can't skip/change tracks).

I took it into the dealership and they changed the circuit board within the blue/me system. Gave it back to me and within 2 days it's doing exactly the same thing again! :bang: . Obviously not the circuit board!

I've read through the posts within this section but can't find many comments/advice on this. Can anyone help so that I can point the possible problem/solution out to the garage?

Thanks

Recently I think I left the car light inside switched on. went to Start the engine and I got a ticking noise and a message on my screen saying that the radiator fluid is hot - switch off engine. I chaged the battery and the car started ok - but blue and me was gone. I took it to the Fiat Service department here in Malta (nice ppl - bad service) to check out the problem. They uploaded the software and re-aligned b&m with the ECU. It sort of worked. They didn't upload the sms reader software so i decided to do it myself ( it was easy the first time so i thought it would work.) but it didn't. So i downloaded the software that changes the language from the fiat site...thinking it will all be re-configured again. no luck... now it's saying NO ENGLISH each time i press a blue and me function key. any idea why this might be happening?

P.S. the file i downloaded is here http://www.fiat.it/FIAT_ITALIA/lingueBlueMe/uk4FU0809/uk4FU0809.zip

thanks

Re: NO MEDIA FOUND message - how to sort it out!

The way I clear the "NO MEDIA FOUND" annoyance is to carry a second cheap (256MB) pen drive in my car with a couple of MP3 files on it.

When the no media found message occurs I swap my pen drives over browse and play an MP3 off the second pen drive then swap them back again and the building media files thing starts (on my 4GB drive)and folders are back.

I've not tested whether to just swap the pen drives works without actually playing an MP3. Hope this helps.

N95

Hi All

i just picked up my Bravo over the weekend and set the blue&me up, however when its connected to the N95 and i dial a number the display on the dash first shows dialing number, then it changes to call ended and you can not hear it ringing the number but it does connect the call, not a big problem but its hard to tell if your acctualy dialing or not.

It works fine with my Wife Motterola V3:rolleyes:

Re: Blue & Me - Tech Info

Go into the Menu on your Blaupunkt radio, and adjust the External volume. Mine is now set to 16. You can also use the volume up/down button on the steering wheel, but it just temporary, it changes back to the default volume every time you finish a call.

The SMS reader (along with other spoken instructions) volume is really low. I've tried the above suggestion, but my music is then far too loud. If I then turn the volume down using the button on the steering wheel then the reader goes down just the same as it was before, so setting the external volume doesn't really help. What is needed is some way of adjusting the comparative volume of the reader. Anyone any suggestions?

On a similar note, is there a way of adjusting the comparative volume of the traffic announcements. They come in so loud they make me jump out of my skin!

The External volume should have nothing to do with the actual volume of the stereo. It should just set the volume of the womans voice during voice commands, etc.

Thanks for your reply - I'm a little confused by this now. Following your message I've tried experimenting with the external volume. I had it is set at about 5. I've set it to about 17 now. If I just switch onto MAR with media player on auto, it comes on at a reasonable volume (set at the steering wheel to 5). But if I go onto the radio, and then switch back to the media player, it blasts out loud( at 17). I am fairly sure that when I then reduce the volume via the steering wheel, the volume of the woman's voice reduces as well but will try this later when I am driving.

Right then, the volume it comes back on at should be the same as what it went off as. I cant say i have ever noticed the volume go up when i have switched from one source to another and then back. When it is in Voice mode the volume controls do adjust her voice that is true. In order to get a proper answer on this you will have to wait for someone like T to have a read i think.

Hi all,

New here and just got a new GP (1.4 8v dynamic sport), brand new yesterday. I've read the thread and am having no real problems - because the B&M has never worked!

I've got the "buttons do nothing/flashing mileage" problem.

I tried the language update - gave me a "NO ENGLISH" error
I tried the SMS reader - gave me "USB ERROR : 10"

(i think i'm doing the update procedure correctly)

took it to the dealer today they said it needs a new "download" but they haven't got the latest CD - hmmmm, they'll call me when they get it in.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I would love to try this thing, it would also test the N93 to see what functions!

cheers
