Hi guys, do I use the USB port with the windows logo next to it, or the one where I put the USB stick with my music on?

Also, it says the s/w date is 06/2012 - will it still not work with my Nexus 4?

Sorry for thread hi-jack but how do you know what software your running on blue and me ?

go here and click the blue button for assisted mode

http://www.blueandme.net/blueandme/index.aspx?brand=fga&lang=en#/support/download

I don't know how to find the version, but to update it you download a zip file (from above), unzip it and put the files on a memory stick (formatted as FAT32)

put it in your punto and switch the ignition on but don't start the engine. it will say updating. leave it until it says completed, and tells you to remove the usb stick

it will have put a file on called bmconf.xml or something.

upload this at the blueandme site above, and it will list the versions available. it showed me 5.5 and 5.6 (you need to update 5.5 before doing 5.6) and you do these in the same way. copy files to usb stick. insert in b&m usb port and switch ignition on, then wait for it to install (5.5 and 5.6 both took a few minutes)

it says 6.0 is on there but not sure if it's available for any b&m car

However, I updated it to 5.6 and it still won't recognise my Nexus :(

kinda expecting it really as the update predates the release of the phone

What do you mean by it won't recognise it?

Are you talking about bluetooth phone compatibility or USB connection for music?

Bluetooth should work ok - my Sony Xperia T is similarly much newer than the car, but works fine.
For USB you're better off using a USB flash drive, but if you're desperate to plug your phone in, you may need to make sure that the USB connection settings on the phone are set correctly - it probably needs to be set in mass storage device mode rather than sync mode.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply

I mean I can't make/receive calls from it.

I have a USB with music on it that's working fine, but when I get in my car, I turn the ignition on, go to settings, pairing, and get the PIN code

then I search for Blue&Me on my phone (and find it) and connect. I put in the PIN code, and it shows "Nexus 4" on the dashboard.

However, when I press the button to dial, and say "call <person>" it says "searching (or connecting)" then says try again later

I tried restarting the phone, turning bluetooth off/on, turning the engine off/on, but nothing :(

If you try making a call from the phone itself once it's paired, does the car pick it up? If so, it points to it being a problem accessing your contacts rather than the dialler.

Try deleting all the phone data from B&M, and unpairing B&M on your phone.
Then when you re-pair it, does the phone also ask you for permission to access the contacts / phone book?
If so, say yes, and yes to any other permissions it asks for.

It might also be worth turning on phone visibility before you re-pair, as some devices don't seem to like pairing with phones they can't see.

I've got a Nexus 4 which works fine (via bluetooth) for calling and dialling with v5.6 on the old Gen1 Blue & Me in my Bravo (which only has one USB port)..
SMS reading is the only thing that doesn't work (the phone doesn't support Bluetooth MAP - I'm working on fixing that)

On mine I just pair it up, wait a minute for the car to shout welcome at me and ask to copy the phonebook, acknowledge that request on the phone (tick always allow here).. wait a few mins, and can start dialling.

I think the newer B&M systems must be a bit different if you have 2 USB sockets, I cant play music from my phone (if I connect it to USB it doesnt work as the N4 will show only as an MTP device and my B&M doesnt understand it.. works fine with a USB stick in mass storage mode though).. Not sure if you can do this via A2DP over bluetooth on the newer system or not?
if so I expect it will work as the N4 does A2DP fine..

does it work if you say dial and then dictate a number to it rather than trying to use phonebook?? (Say Dial, wait for beep then say: one four seven one, dial, yes)

The biggest problem is the bluetooth on the Nexus is buggy (I've had 3 phones now as Google/LG keep replacing them despite it clearly being a software fault that needs fixing) and sometimes gets stuck Off.. until you reboot the phone.

That problem isn't specific to the car though, and its not your issue if it has connected..

Thanks, got it working now

I went into settings and deleted all user data, instead of just re-pairing.

I paired it up and this time I got the contact book prompt like before :)

Sorry for the silly question but where is the second USB port in the grande pun to? The only one I know is the one in the glove box with the windows logo on it...

The other one is in the top left hand corner of the glove box on a metal bracket and has a rubber bung in it.

Actually that's the only one I've got :(
