Hi all,

I can't get my 4s to work in the car - it doesn't play music or charge.

I have the white blue and me adapter and an iPhone lead which worked fine with my 3gs.

I have had a look on here for poss solutions and they all seem to revolve around changing an adapter lead. My phone charges in the house using the new lead and in the car there is an old lead which doesn't work, and I have swapped them round and it's the same problem so in my opinion it's not the lead that is the problem.

Does anyone know if the problem may be that the 4s needs to wait for an upgrade from Apple to work, or perhaps my B and M needs upgrading? (Although it was serviced by Fiat last month so should be all up to date?)

Hi had the same problem, try to use the usb cable that come with the iphone 4s!
This solved my problem, i was still using my 3gs cable...

Hi Eddepet,

Do you know if I need to order the B&M Stick, to use an Iphone4S on an EVO 2010 (with a brand new B&M module)? The module has been changed last week.

I'm about tho buy a 4S, just called FIAT NL and they cannot confirm compatibility.... As you might know the 4S is running IOS5.

My iphone 4s is the same. It seems to have paired successfully and I can make calls etc but it doesn't charge or play music when plugged in with the Blue&Me adaptor. The new software was installed today during a service and I've tried different leads, new and old.

If anyone has solved this problem, I'd really appreciate some advice. All was fine with my old iphone and now I wonder if the adaptor is faulty - it has been dropped a few times.

I have exactly the same problem. I have a new iPhone 4S 64GB so that I can play all my music through the blue and me adaptor in my Punto. My iPhone is formatted via a Mac and the iPhone 4 worked fine. I've tried all the things advised like rebooting the phone and reconnecting it, etc. But these things do not work. Am I going to have to wait for a software update from Fiat? This is so frustrating.

My iphone 3Gs was working with B&M but just moved onto the Samsung Galaxy S2 which pairs but then unpairs straight away.

M&M recongises the Galaxy but when you try to look at phone book or make calls or receive calls, B&M staes it searching for connection although the pairing has been done.

I've reinstalled the B&M software to 5.5 and now stuck for options.

Has anybody else encountered this issue with B&M and Samsung Galaxy S2? BTW My car is a Punto T-Jet.

You cannot play music files and pair to the blue and me system at the same time form the one phone. Its one or the other. You can play music files from an ipod and connect your iphone. Also there has been one software update for the blue and me system which was released in late 2008 to update which phones are compatible. No updates to software since then. In late 2009/early 2010 fiat have changed from a microsoft blue and me ecu to a laberhorn ecu. Both run using a windows operating system. The difference between them is you do not need the white blue and me adaptor with the laberhorn ecu. The laberhorn ecu plays apple audio compression (aac files) straight away. The microsoft ecu requires this adaptor to play them

I have managed to get my iphone 4s charging and playing music successfully and hope this might help anyone with the same problem.

My new iphone paired successfully and I could make and receive calls but the blue&me adaptor did not seem to work at all. It turned out that it was broken and a new adaptor, while not initially appearing any better, did make the iphone vibrate a little on connection, which the broken one had not.

I had read on a very old alfa forum, I think, that my car system would have been used to my old iphone and that it needed to be forced into recognising a new device. This is done by switching off the new iphone, connecting it with the adaptor and only then turning the car ignition on. This started up my iphone and also started it charging and playing music. Success.

This seems to work reliably, though I do have to switch my iphone off every time I want it to play through the car. rather frustrating but I am so pleased it's working again.

Hey guys, I have a fiat 500 with blue&me that was new in july 2011, I've just bought an iphone 4S, do I need to update the blue&me in order to play my music etc? also do I need to buy the lead that the blue&me website says I need, or can I just use the USB cable that came with my phone? It has paired fine with the car but haven't tried music yet as wanted to be sure software was correct and what cables I needed etc. Also, I can't believe the message reader isn't compatible! They say Blue&Me was designed for iphone so why would everything not be compatible with the iphone. Grrr to fiat. Please help

You won't need an update - your B&M will be at version 5.5 (the latest).

You won't need the adapter, as your car will have the Lauberhorn convergence unit (not the original Microsoft one that needs the adapter to function with iPhone). Text message read back doesn't work, but everything else functions fine on my 64Gb 4S, including playing music with a cable connection (although I don't use it very often as I have a USB stick full of most of my music).

Ok thanks bgunn I was thinking that myself, I already use a USB stick so may aswell stick with that rather than fussing with wires, I just really wanted to see what the message reader was like, just for the novelty as my old phone wasn't compatible either. Thanks for your help

Thanks for this post as it may answer my question... im new to 500's and its a 58 lounge,(just updated to 5.5 too) the blue n me website quotes greater iphone compatability as long as you use mp3 ( which i do ) but i cant get squat music from it????? it pairs and works fine as a phone. WTF is a Laubhorn convergence unit how do i know if i have such a thing and what happens if i dont have it? and if i need the adapater thing do i need to buy the specific lead too? hope you can help

Further to my post a couple of months or so back on this thread. I have taken my Punto to a dealer and had the Blue & Me reset, and now it works with my iPhone 4S. Maybe this is the only answer for those who can't get the issue sorted any other way.

We have just bought a Punto evo from sept. 2011, we also have the Iphone4S issue. The B&M works fine with BT, but can't play music and charge. The dealer has supplied us with the B&M adapter but that did'nt help either! Any ideas anyone?

Problem solved!! We simply tried to connect the iphone before turning the car on! As soon as we turned the key, the Iphone started charging and play music! AND WITHOUT THE ADAPTOR!

There is version 5.6 on the blue and me web page.

At the point I posted that message, 5.5 was current. I'd like to see anyone with a car that came with the latest B&M unit (a 2011 on car) who have managed to update it to 5.6 - I haven't been able to update mine with the package that can be downloaded and will get the dealer to update it when it goes in for its first service.
