Hi

I have had a search in the forum and also in the book of words that came with the car......this is probably very simple but can anyone tell me how to make the voice of the blue and me louder....I can hardly hear what she says.

I can turn up the volume through the radio controls, however, it defaults back to a whisper!!!

Cheers

Thanks GXbox.

Thought it would be something fairly simple but just couldn't find it. Can finally hear the voice clearly now....only turned mine up to 10.

Cheers

Nice one i have the same issue , cant hear a word she says, is there a way of increasing the default volume that your blue and me starts on, not just turn it up each time ? or is that what you mean by turn up the external volume. Ideally id like to have the voice set to loud but increase the volume of music when i want it louder ... can this be done ?

Yes that can be done just by following the advice above. The External Volume is the volume that will control the womens voice (reading out menus/txt msgs etc) and will not effect your music volume which you'll be left to be able to control from the steering wheel or dash

Just turn up the External volume in the radio menu. Mine is set to 16. ;)

I just used my Blue & Me Map in my 500 now and before I used it I turned up the volume on the radio/CD player, but the woman's voice was still really quiet and I couldn't hear her at all when someone was talking in the car. Is there another way of turning up the external volume on the radio, like in the setting menu?

Thank you
Amy

Amy, the radio volume is not the same as the Blue&Me lady volume. You can adjust the Blue&Me lady's volume if you press the menu button on the radio and look for the external volume setting. You need to turn that external volume up, so you can hear the lady louder. The Blue&Me Map GPS instruction voice is transmitted trough Blue&Me, so I guess turning up the external volume should solve your problem. Hope this is what you meant.

Hiya, Thank you :) I can't seem to find the external volume setting though, does it come up when you press the menu button on the radio/CD player? I have a speech volume option, which appears to turn the radio up, but then the lady is still just as quiet.

Looks like they've renamed the external volume to speech volume in the 500. Try to turn that up, you will hear the radio louder when you turn it up, but as soon as you quit the radio menu, the radio volume should be back to normal, but hopefully the lady wont be that shy and quiet anymore. ;)

If that doesn't work, see if you have an Audio menu button on your radio. In my Grande Punto I have a "Menu" and an "Audio" menu where I can set things. Check what adjusments can you make in the Audio menu.

Thank you :) I tried to change the speech volume, but she still spoke really quiet. I'm taking the blue & me map back tomorrow as I really don't like it, and changing it for the TomTom, I don't mind that it won't connect to the blue & me but at least you can have the speech loud :)

I'll keep trying to turn up the blue & me lady though for when i need to use it :) I'll try the speech thingy again and see what happens.

Thanks again :)

If you've just got your 500, it may be that the Blue&Me TomTom will work fully in your car. If the car was built late July 2010 onwards and has the dashboard port it may be the new configuration. This will allow the full B&M TomTom features to work.

Your dealer should be able to advise/help on this, though as it is only just happening its likely they'll not know everything yet. Ideally get them to get it working for you before you buy the TomTom. My own dealer has said when I decide to get a satnav he'll test one in my 500 first before I buy one.

I hope this makes sense!

Ah that would be amazing if it did work fully, I picked up my car 2 weeks ago so it will have been built in September time I think, so hopefully it will work :) My dealer didn't know too much about it really, but they did say they would order me one on Monday, when I pick it up I'll get them to show me what to do with it and set it up for me before I commit to buying it. I don't really mind too much if it doesn't connect really, as long as it's better in general than the Blue & Me one :) I used a TomTom before getting my 500 and really miss it now I don't have it any more :)

Thanks for your advice! :)

If you bug the parts or service department they can check they chassis number to check compatibility

Thank you :) I did that and they said that it wouldn't work with any 500's yet, but it might with a later update  I'll keep trying it though, as I'm sure people on here have said they got theirs to work :)

The Blue & Me lady is still really quiet, and also when I receive/make phone calls the person I'm talking too is really quiet. I've been into 'speech volume' and turned it up, but it always goes back to been really quiet for some reason. Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you :)
