hi ppl.

i tried setting up ecodrive onto my blue and me system. each tive i got a usb 10 error.
so i check the contents of the pen drive.
the setup file (.inf file) specifies the files for 5.3 and 5.2 but not for 5.4.
i guess this is the problem.

Now i need help in how to get the usb key setup for blue and me 5.4
i tried to update the ecodrive on the PC but still of no use..

hope u guys can help.

I have a brand new 500C with the software version 5.4 already installed and I keep getting the USB Error 10 message as well when installing Eco Drive.

Anyone have any answers?

Same here - brand new 500 (i guess 5.4 is installed, it says "Media Player"), refuses to update, says Error USB: 10. I mangled with about every possible parameter (being computer expert), from different USB sticks to FAT16, FAT32, MAC, PC, i also patched the install.inf file to include a 5.4 and even 5.5. section.
Interesting: if i do a mistake in the install.inf file, i get another USB error message, so this is the right direction - but i haven't got it working, just lost a night's worth sleep
I guess the stuff inside the CAB file - the application - needs an update for 5.4 also or something like that ... i guess only Fiat can clear this up.

Its useless what’s the point having a user update process when it doesn’t work properly and you have to go to the dealer anyway!!
The admin at fiat.co.uk forums says they got it working when using a brand new usb stick. But why that would make a difference I don't know

yep - and i tried brand new USB sticks also (nothing on them). And i formatted multiple times ... about 50 different tries with different sticks and formats and and ..
I think we don't have to blame Fiat though - it's rather a Mickeysoft problem or bad upgrade method design. Hope i don't have to use the "start" key to stop my nice 500 and that Mickeysoft's involvement is limited to non-essential functions in the car.

I'll keep the forum posted as things develop.

i tried to update the eco drive app on the pc..
made a new key on a brand new usb drive tht i purchased just fr it...
but when i checked the .inf its the same.
in this forum i heard many say tht ecodrive updated fine on their 5.4 system..

so it would help a lot if they can share the contents tht the app creates fr them on the usb drive..

well, my dealer told me they got a new update version, and he's going to send me a USB stick to apply ... i'm at the other side of the world currently, but as soon as i get back i'll try it and will post the results.

sure, but does not make a difference, the installer says "same version of app is already installed". deinstalled and reinstalled anyways, no change.

my 500 arrived saturday 9th and it has v5.4 windows automotive... tried to install eco drive and get the usb error 10... it appears we will all have to wait for the update to eco drive the application... i would suggest however you all join the official fiat forum in addition to this one... as its moderated by fiat techs and you may get an answer... i called them regards this and they are unaware of the scale of the problem... so phone the help line and complain... they are still telling people to buy a new usb stick...

good luck.. lets hope some company makes a control interface for a better after market radio for the 500...

where do you download the 5.4.11? i always get 5.4.09 everytime i hit download.

Just taken delivery of a new 500 with B&M 5.4

Having the same usb 10 error problem with ecodrive - downloaded a fresh version of the application from the fiat website today.

This is a copy of the install.inf file it places on my usb stick:

[Windows Mobile for Automotive 5.2]

Open1 = \iFiat\EDb_R_x_4_EcoDrive-1201_single-install_F.ARM920.CAB

[Windows Mobile for Automotive 5.3]

Open1 = \iFiat\EDb_R_x_4_EcoDrive-1201_single-install_F.ARM920.CAB

Notice that the same installer cabinet file is used for both B&M 5.2 and B&M 5.3

The logical thing to try would be to add the entry:

[Windows Mobile for Automotive 5.4]

Open1 = \iFiat\EDb_R_x_4_EcoDrive-1201_single-install_F.ARM920.CAB

but I understand this isn't sufficient to get it to work;a new version of the cabinet file seems to be needed. Does anyone know if this this correct?

Has anyone got a working ecodrive on a fiat 500 running B&M 5.4?

If so, I'd really appreciate having a copy of their install.inf file, and the iFiat folder from their USB stick.

Same problem in my case - USB ERROR 10.

I also think that Automotive 5.4 may be the reason. Has anyone of you tried editing the install.ini file like jrkitching suggested?

I emailed Fiat and got this reply today:

Although when I went two weeks ago, they didn't know about Ecodrive anyway.

I'll give it another go and see what happens.

Asking you to take your car to a fiat authorised dealer to have ecodrive installed is ridiculous. That's like asking you to take your computer to a manufacturer-apppointed service agent every time you want to install a new software application.

For some reason, the upgrade to B&M 5.4 has broken the ecodrive application currently available from the fiat website.

Fiat needs to produce a fix for this and make the necessary files available for public download.

Even microsoft manages to provide hotfixes so that the technically literate can resolve these kind of issues quickly.
