I've just bought a Grande Punto and i've installed the text message reader. I now get the message reader display but it's saying my inbox is empty and doesn't read messages. I can make and receive calls ok. My phone is a sony ericcson w890i. Can anyone help?

Have u recieved any messages whilst in the car? it will only read and store messages recieved whilst connected to blue and me, i have the 890 and it does work

Is there any way you can have the text message sender displayed as a name instead of a number?

Got it working now thanks but if anyone knows how to get the senders name instead of just the number let me know...

Yeah that really annoys me. I have no idea how to change it though. Probably can't!

I've noticed on some of my contacts it displays the name and some it displays the number.

I had a quick look at the contacts on the phone. And it seems that all the numbers with +44 or some other country code dont display. But the ones with out do.

That's right - ensure you prefix mobile numbers with +44 and drop the initial zero. If you've got a lot of numbers you may find it easier to use the PC Suite or a third party application such as MyPhoneExplorer (IMO its simpler than the PC Suite) from www.fjsoft.at.

Well i'm going to have to play around some more with it.
But it appears it is the numbers with out the country code ( no +44, but just the 0) that display names and not numbers for me.

Or perhaps it is just a matter of storing them all on the sim card and not the phone.

Installed the message reader yesterday and it works great with my Sony Ericsson K770i. Can't get the name to be displayed though, just the number. Doesn't matter how the number is formatted, the name doesn't show.

Should the name show with incoming calls? I've never managed to get it to work, always shows the number instead.

to show the names they have all got to be saved in the phone book i did it but id only put a few contacts in the phonebook and the ones who wasnt on it came as just a number mite be worth a try to see if they all saved ok or was it just me being thick lol

SE K550i will work with Blue&Me Message Reader, but you will hardly understand your Hungarian messages as Blue&Me will pronounce messages in the language that is Blue&Me installed. I guess your Blue&Me lady now speaks English. Unfortunately, there is no Hungarian language support for Blue&Me yet.

Yeah all my contacts are stored in the phonebook, I don't store onto the sim. I received a text message today and the name was displayed, so maybe it has started to match the phonebook detail.

Still doesn't match with incoming calls though.

Thank you very much, köszönöm szépen, for your immediate reply. I mainly get sms from my husband with whom we talk in English since he is not Hungarian. So for me this feature can be quite useful. I am going to buy a phone which is fully compatible with the B&M system and is not too expensive. My present Nokia 51something does not support the message reader. Any suggestion? :)

Most of the Sony Ericsson phones are fully compatible with Blue&Me (including the message reader). Also true for the older Motorola phones and some LG phones.

Here is the compatibility list. Sorry, it’s the Italian one, couldn’t find the English one.
(Lettura vocale messaggi SMS is what you are looking for)

Before you buy it tough, check with us, because as you can read in other threads, Blue&Me is very sensitive for some SE phones software upgrade.

i have had problems with my wheel controls and it saying no bluetooth found, and unpluging the battery worked fine.

could some1 tell me where u get the message reader from and how to install it.
