Hey everyone,
Just curious, as I'm ordering the new Alfa Mito, which has, i think, the same system as the Fiat 500, whether it's worth it?
My other options are the TomTom Go 740L and 730.
Would you recommend these over the B&M Nav - which costs £400. The TT works in the middle of nowhere as well, whereas i don't know about the B&M.
They both have fixed Safety Camera warnings, and i think the Live even has mobile camera warnings as well.
Any opinions? Bear in mind that the Live isn't out yet, and my car won't be here before either late January, or if it's comin Feb, then i'll pick it up March.
Thank you very much,
Umer

I have the B&M nav - which I think was actually under £200. I have never used a tom-tom.
The benefits of the B&M one is that it slots into a scocket on the dashboard - so no horible wires or section mount, and it syncs with the Fiat B&M system, so the directions are read out over the car speakers, which overides any music you may be playing.
The downside is it feels like old technology. The images are poor, and as a result you can often miss the required turnings. Also, the movement on screen seems slow and jerky, and I would expect the Tom Tom to be better. I also believe the Tom Tom has better traffic flow management - giving advice based on other tomtom users.
Ideally I would want the Tom Tom to plug into the port - and get the best of both worlds.
I think if you are going to use the sat nav regularly, and dont want the wires hanging about, then go for the B&W, otherwise I belive the TomTom will be much better.

sgoody, you're confused a bit about Blue&Me systems. the original post was about Blue&Me Nav vs. the TomTom PNDs, while your response seemed to outline Blue&Me Map, a PND similar in form to TomToms but offered through Fiat dealers (made by Magneti Marelli). Your advice however is valid for the B&M Map v. TomTom argument however, so note that.

As for the original question, if you're going to have to wait until your ride is delivered is January, I'd consider waiting to get a TomTom until then (more devices will be available then, also the 730 and 740 should be cheaper then also). In the meantime, order normal Blue&Me for the multimedia stuff, which is one of the best on the market for its price. For navigation however, most people will like the TomTom interface moreso than Blue&Me Nav because Blue&Me Nav is only pictographic directions on the instrument cluster in monochrome. Full color, richer POI database, more options are all available on the TomTom but not on Blue&Me Nav.

Sorry, i did mean Map, so the post by sgoody was relevant...
I meant the Tom-Tom style navigation system; the multimedia capabilities (plug in USB - control via steering wheel) are standard on the Mito, but thelittle navigation system is not.

It seems, though, that you both seem to agree that TomTom will be better, especially considering i hate the fact that the Blue&Me is mounted slap bang in the middle of the dash-top.

Thank you bot for your help.
