a bit of a moan
As mention before i was and have put on my back box, however a word of warning, when phoning your insurers ensure that anyone you talk to regarding modifications you get their name and the date of time of call, lucky i did
When i made a claim i stated that the car is standard and in future i will modify it, when you mention this they will normally get an insurance policy that when you mod you just phone and they adjust your policy. i also notifield them a little while ago about fitting an air filter. no probs the lady sa ...More Read More

Its been a while since i last done a blog, so what have i done since then....

i have changed the front shoxs which have made a difference but i am now going to lower it about 20 to 25mm. Have taken off the lower strut brace as in having the cinq a standard height i still hit the speed bumps. i really don't recommend these lower strut brace for road use, i really don't know how people get away with it when their car has been lowered. Anyway that the reason iam going for 20 to 25mm due to those bl***y speed bumps.
i have taken off the cinq ...More Read More

After scrapping one head(the cam seized) i have got her going. she is sooooo much quicker.
did all the work in the previous thread but instead of the 866 or is it 886 anyway you know what i mean i have put in a 4x4 cam from a 2001 punto. Someone in the forum said this cam is probably better used in the 1.1 engine and i don't know if this is true but believe me it has made a big difference. when i put my foot down at 2000 revs the cinq flies . i personally recommend this cam.
also a big plus is the thermostat changing the inne ...More Read More

hello Well it has been a while since i last blog, so whats been happenning? quite a lot in fact. due to the weather i thought this would be the best time to do all the major stuff on her.
so here goes......
HEAD
head off at the moment on the bench, going to do a bit of cleaning and porting, the thing is i think the cinq head is quite good as standard, compared to a few i have done before so this will have a minor porting job and decoking. Plus i open and match the inlet manifold.
CAM
whilst the head is off the bench i thought i sort ou ...More Read More

Put on my fast road pads which is still bedding in at the moment and have ordered my shoxs and wheel spacers. Things where going all hokey cokey until i was driving through sunny saff east london then my cinq decided to stop dead and won't start. tried to turn it over and there was a funny noise with the fan belt. i checked it out and it was the alternator. took the thing off and it was seized, infact i couldn't even turn the pully with my hand. bought new one £80 odd quid sorted that out then guess what ??? started my car one mornin ...More Read More

Updated the cold air feed to an aluminium one i bought from B&Q, it was a tight squeeze but was worth it...the more air the better.

Mckcrich Chip, was it easy to change?
Yep it sure was, much easy than i thought no probs at all, follow the instructions and you can't go wrong.

Performance
Very good, with my modified air box, cold air fed, heatshield and back box, it is sooo much more responsive and there is a bit more of an urgency to it. i highly recommend it. worth every penny. happy??? yep!

Hello
Done the heatshield and finally fitted the cold air feed and i think it has made a difference, and i had to use bit and piece to do the job. i now have a lot of cold air going to the air filter due to the diameter of the air feed pipe, i manage to install a 4" diameter flexi pipe. you never guess what from? now don't laugh...from a tumble dryer yep!
i first cut out a hole next too the number plate, pushed a pipe which is found on ported bass boxes through the bumper and attached the flexi pipe. The flexi pipe was then wrappe ...More Read More

Hello people
As mentioned in my last story zzzzzzzz. i was going to do a D.I.Y cold air feed and heatshield.don't forget this is probably just beneficial to those who have modifield their standard air box. i.e have the front cut off but come to think of it it may help cutting heat in the engine bay, not sure in how much but as Tesco says every little helps. As mentioned before it is aluminium and the good thing about it(if there are anything good with it) is that it is bolted on to the rocker cover bolts so there are no movement a ...More Read More

Hi everyone

Now that i have sorted out the exhaust now its time for the induction. i currently have a ramair panel filter with a modified airbox. well i wouldn't call it modified more like the front have been cut off.
i believe this can be improved as at the moment it is drawing in hot air from the exhaust....not good
Anyway as you probably know with airfilters to get the real benefit of it you you need to get cold air to it. so thats what next on the list a cold air feed. i have had some ideas from fellow members so this is t ...More Read More

Yipee the sportex exhaust is now on however i had to take the tow bar off. why oh why would you need a tow bar on a cinq. Anyway took ages to take that off as everything was rusty and when i did i had 2 large holes in the chassis rail. do you believe the tow bar weighed over a stone.
Put the sportex box on and it sounds so loud, i do think it looks good with the centre exit though .
Now i have taken the tow bar rail off, and have the ramair air filter and the exhaust on it definately feels more responsive.
whats n
