I need to change my 1989 Ford Sierra Estate for something less rusty and more reliable, and a 1995 1.8 Tempra SW has really caught my eye. At 3000 Euro (I'm in Germany) it seems to be good value for money. What should I be checking before I close a deal ?

cars are galvinised so body lasts well but front crossmembers do rust i have a 1993 tempra 26000 miles and it failed mot on this also had a 1993 dedra same problem but had to scrap that .also have a look at all electrics

€3000 is way too much!

I would expect that a 1995 1.8 model would be under €1500.

My 80,000KM Tipo 1.6 was €350!

Have a look at autotrader.co.uk... saw a number of estates for under £500.

Does autotrader list cars in germany ?
as far as I can see its just Holland that they offer.

Looking at UK prices, £1000 is the average for an N reg Weekend, which would be about €1500 which is what fixit said as well.

If you have €3000 to play with, you could try look at 97 Marea Weekends instead

My father is currently selling a 2.0 SLX Estate which is in pristine order. (see classified) Problem is, it is RHD........i am located at the moment in Scotland, though we are planning to move to Italy very soon!

Hi!

I'm thinking about going to check out a 1.6ie 1991 saloon. As I live in Denmark, and the car is priced at £700, a fair amount of rust must be expected (anything under £1500 here is going to be rusty!), but is there anything I should particularly look out for? The car also has a lot of km's under its belt, and the owner says its due for a cambelt change. I remember doing one on a toyota diesel a few years ago which was a pig of a job, is it any easier on a tempra?

Thanks for any advice!
