Ive finally got round to sorting out the Abarth skirts I bought at Stanford last year....
Been filling a damn big hole (with GRP!), and sanding it flat - the person I bought them off broke one slightly by getting airborne on the Isle of Man...
Theyre just about ready for priming then topcoating...I just need to get a sanding sponge, go over the tops again then prime and topcoat. I reckon they'll be fitted once I have the black Cinq to play with again.
1. Reinstall front wiper linkage - as Uno motor is stripped atm.
2. Reinstall NSF Wishbone
3. Replace NSF Wheel bearing in spare upright
4. Reinstall spare upright to NSF position
5. Sort Rust in NSR arch
6. Replace Rear Drums, Shoes and Handbrake cable
7. Replace blown NSR tyre
Non Critical:
8. Renew Oil, Plugs and Filters all round
9. Get induction system machined and installed
Well Ive sorted the brakes...so I now have some fooking huge brakes (discs like dinnerplates) that'll directly fit the Cinq uprights....the rear's will be a bit more faffy as they wont be a direct swap to the Tipo front uprights, although its not outside of my remit to make the buggers fit
...Oh and Ive started ripping redundant bits off the TC..Bits like the PAS Pump (Cinq not having PAS as its too much effort!), and the EGR System (As I have no intention to use that, although the port will be used to sense EGT.
Ive been thinking along the lines of mad engined Mini's.
Its a known fact they use subframes to support the engine+gearbox - and this is retained in MOST conversions, or a similar strategy is adopted.
Im thinking (going off the experience Ive gained in doing LR07 - Lancaster Racing) build the engine and driveline as one unit that is designed to slot into in a certain sized hole (ergo a slot in cooker). Its just very convenient that this hole is gonna be sized according to the Cinq chassis.
Im gonna mark up or make a floor based jig

...and its gotta go back on the road as angel's gonna have the new Cinq cos she can insure it, and it makes no sense having a car sat on its arse doing nothing when it can be ran...
I may have sorted the caliper carrier issue (and may collect the required parts tomorrow), and Im gonna start stripping the TC down and shipping it out of Manchester (to Leicester), as I'll be relocating there soon to live with angel.
Oh, and Ive had an interesting thought regarding design strategy (see blog entry i

This project has been resolutely stuck in the planning phase for a damn long time now. Since the idea being initially planted in my head by a mate of mine (posts as 'sumplug' on here), Ive been slowly acquiring gear.
I now have....
Some 15" Wheels in Fiat fitment, ET35 backspace I think
A 2L 8v Twincam engine from a Tempra SW GT
Some Tipo Sedicivalvol uprights, driveshafts and a cardan shaft
Some 285mm front brakes, some 240mm rear brakes - lacking carriers (although this is in hand)
I also have... a Cinq thats gonna be SORNed ver
