Technical Air Induction Kits

Technical Air Induction Kits

Hi,
As far as i'm aware, induction kits add a few bhp....maybe 5-10 tops. They can also give u a slightly more raucous exhaust note. I suppose 4 £80, 5 or 10 bhp is not bad VFM.
Regarding the fitting, i have no idea but would b interested 2 hear myself.

Cheers,

Rob.

When using a K&N induction filter, it`s important that you get cold air to the filter. If not, you loose hp!

I've got a problem with induction kits.... no one makes them for a 1.2 bravo. No i'm not expecting huge power from it, its more to do with giving the engine the air it needs, rather than strangling it.

Anyone know anywhere that does a kit designed specifically for the 1.2?

On N/A (non-turbo) Fiat engines performance air filters do give the engine a nicer note freer reving and definately more grumble! Jamie if you can post a pic of your engine bay below I can tell you where to go from here. If you have the 1.2 16v engine it maybe possible to fit the system designed for the mk1 Punto Sporting (98 onwards) otherwise you may have to custom build one, not as difficult as it sounds. Post me a pic! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Tom,

I'll post a pic up here asap. Its the 1.2 16v engine yes, and I was tempted to look at the punto kit available - wanted to know if it had been done before - dont mind being a 'pioneer' in these things... as long as it will fit.

Ok, i'm considering fitting a K&N Induction kit 2 my HGT. Has any1 done this and how easy is it. I am not really mechanically minded but will turn my hand 2 anything.
If any1 has a pic of their HGT with this filter fitted, can they post with some guidelines :)

Cheers,

Rob.

Fitted a 57i to my previous car, a corsa Sri. The kit includes instructions and guidelines making the kit easy to fit. Not sure how mcuh work it takes on the Bravo, but they are generally easy and quick to fit (30 mins max). The important part is where you place the cold air feed pipe. Make sure it is in a place where cold air can flow freely up the pipe and over the filter when the car is moving (for example, poking out under the front bumper).

Looking at getting one soon for my Bravo.

Roberto, yes I fitted a 57i k&n two days after purchasing my car. Its v.easy to fit. Most cars when fitted with a k&n filter produce a more rumbly note but the amount of 'sucking' noise you hear through the filter with the HGTs 5 cylinder engine is awesome, mental is the only way to discribe it. If you have a pic of the HGT engine bay I could draw on the image and show you where it fits.

Tom,
Thanx 4 ur reply....I'd b most grateful 4 any help u can provide. If u could maybe give me a detailed instruction in text as 2 how 2 fit it and what part number I need 2 buy (K&N) I'll try & find a pic of the bay 4 u 2 show me where 2 put it. I'm interested on where the cold air intake pipe goes.

Thanx a million,

Rob.

Yeah i fitted one and its a piece of ****

DEvil- i bought one for my 1.4sx for £70 but i could have saved more cos you only need the air filter and those cold feed pipe can be bought cheaper seperately! the filter comes in all sizes u just need to know the diameter of the exisiting filter

it took me 10mins or less and the engine noise is terrefic

KanuLondon,

What type of air filter did you get i.e. K&N, Green etc

I've also got a 1.4 and i think the engine is suffering a bit from starvation !!

Roberto, i'll sell you my HGT Pipercross induction kit.
I'll e-mail you a pic as well.
It's really, really easy to fit!!!
An hour tops, the most difficult part is taking off the passenger wheel, so you can remove the standard air box through the wheel arch.

Si, Roberto's post was nearly a year ago - dont get your hopes up mate as he has also crashed it last week! I do love old posts being dragged up, they are so confusing!
