Ok this was a massive change, stepping from PHP4 to PHP5 running under the new Microsoft FastCGI implmentation.
It did have a few issues to start, which were solved by editing core vBulletin code HOWEVER, I might not have got all of them .. so if you notice anything dodgy going on, please post it to the thread below:

Updated the way vBulletin does its searching to use MYSQL based FULLTEXT indexes instead of the ancient Word table method it used before.
Some of the advantages include:- Less PHP resources used because the indexing takes place in MySQL.
- No need to maintain the postindex and word tables which can take up a lot of space.
- Natural Language and Phrase searching is available.
- Can Sort by relevancy for better results
- Default search in vBulletin's latest versions.
- Can support more searches per minute.
- Searches can take better advantage of

Just a small change, but one which makes us a bit more "FIAT" 
Have updated the forum and thread status icons (the red, green + blue icons next to a forum/thread) from the circular buttons to the FIAT logo shaped ones.

In Software Updates ePER updated to version 36. | |

We're happy to announce that the ePER server has now been updated to version 36, meaning the Nuavo Bravo is now supported.
The file structure was slightly different to the old one, so please let me know if you find something that's not quite running properly - but I've done a quick test and it seems OK (with all languages supported of course )

As a number of useful posts had started popping up in non-car forums, the decision was made to allow "thank you"s to be given to any posts (in any forum).
However, this doesn't mean it's a chance for a thank you free for all - people abusing the system will be banned from giving "thanks" - so use it only when you should!  | |

Yes, it's finally here - the ability to now search through your PM list
It can be found in the PM menu, just about "Track Messages" and allows you to search on keyword, author or recipient.
Very useful if you have thousands of the buggers!

Yes people, we're happy to announce that we've finally got our own copy of the ePER software running - so you no longer have to rely on a dodgy copy that disappears after a few weeks - even better, it's on its own dedicated server, so won't affect the running of FF at all
Currently we have version 20 up, but are working on getting a later version running - which will go live ASAP.
If you don't know what ePER is - basically it's a *very* comprehensive guide to the innards of your beloved FIAT, all nicely broken down with pictures

Hopefully not to be a repeat of the disaster last time, but VBSEO has now been upgraded again. Supposed improvements with this version are a large speed increase due to the removal of encryption.
Certainly the load on the servers should reduce as the ioncube loaders don't need to boot up each time.
This time I shall be watching like a hawk until all is confirmed working, last time it waited until I had gone to lunch, then crashed ... lol
