| Rev limiter and gear ratios. I'm curious, are the new models set-up with the same gear change points and limits? I ask becasue I saw one site which claimed there were some differences. Mine's in the red at 7000 and hits the limiter around 7100/7200. This equates to a change up at around 50mm/h from 1st to 2nd and then 110km/h to 3rd. The figures are a bit rough because it's best to be looking forward at these speeds :-) Mine's a 1997, is it the same for the newer ones?

| Re: Rev limiter and gear ratios. 50mm/h...fancy that. Seems a waste to have the 1st

| Re: Rev limiter and gear ratios. Yes, a little different to mine. I also find hitting 7000 quite easy. Which year is the car from?

| Son of the Propeller. | Re: Rev limiter and gear ratios. Here is the B's gear ratios and they are SAME for all years of production: 1st 3,909:1 / 7,8 km/h(@1000rpm) 2nd 2,238:1 / 13,6 km/h 3rd 1,520:1 / 20,0 km/h 4th 1,156:1 / 26,3 km/h 5th 0,946:1 / 32,2 km/h R 3,909:1 Final drive 3,563:1 the B's 5 speed gearbox gives 32.2 in 5th gear at 1000rpm, at top speed you reach 6.250rpm = 201km/h top speed !

| Re: Rev limiter and gear ratios. Thanks for that. So if I can go to 110 in 2nd at 7100 then my speedo must be out by 13km/h! I knew it was a little optimistic, but I had thought it was 10km/h out maximum. I assume others have the same level of accuracy? Cheers, Matt.

| It's got to be yellow!! | Re: Rev limiter and gear ratios. Easiest way to see how far out your speedo is in any vehicle, get yourself a satnav! You will get a true, accurate reading of your speed on the satnav, see the difference

| It's got to be yellow!! | Re: Rev limiter and gear ratios. Whatever vehicle I am driving, I now never ever look at the speedo to see what speed I am doing. I always rely on the satnav. You know whats it's like on UK motorways when all the lemmings are approaching a police car and they all slow down to 69.999 miles an hour! well suckers, I speed past doing 76 MPH indicated on my vehicles speedo

| Re: Rev limiter and gear ratios. Just be careful-if you are on a hill the sat nave wont be accurate!
