Doc Orange Peel Barchetta project

Hi,
I spent this weekend replacing both front inner wheel arch trim and removing all the rust from the battery tray. I Have now almost removed all the rusty bolts from the engine bay and its starting to come together.

I need to have a cold air intake made up as the crap £5 halfords one is s++t looking.

Almost finished on the brakes and suspention side of things, only the upgrade anti-role bar kit and bushes left to do.

Looking very good doc.

One question....how well do the induction kits work when the engine is cold?

Re: Doc Orange Peel Barchetta project

Fine, never had a problem with it. If you are thinking of getting an air intake go for the enclosed versions. Thats the one I would go with if I had the choice again.

The main top water hose runs under the air intake, so I had to cover it as well as the manifold with copper heat tape to keep the engine bay cool.

Now that I have an oil cooler and cold air intake, as well as the copper heat tape on the manifold and water pipe. The temp in the engine bay is lower then before. This all helps the air intake work better.

I would have done these mods anyway, but I just like the look of the enclosed black carbon fiber filters now.

Re: Doc Orange Peel Barchetta project

Doc that really is looking good, I have just started to tidy up my engine bay this weekend, just got in from the garage after wrestling with the remains of my battery tray getting it ready for powder coating, I think I will go and stand in a corner and sulk.

It's green like many an owner when they see your engine compartment

Thanks for the info.

Re: Doc Orange Peel Barchetta project

My tray was rusty, but after spending an hour grinding it all off and giving it four coats of Hammerite paint it came up ok.

Wanna change cars with me? They're the same colour, so you shouldn't notice too big a difference...

Looks fab what you've done with it

A bit anal if you ask me, polishing the heatshield
Only jealous.
P.S. My next door neighbour thought I was rather anal when I was on my hands and knees polishing the INSIDE of the exhaust on my coupe

Don't know Doc. Red will look very sporty , silver will highlight the calipers and will make it look newer . You will need to start cleaning them regularly if you paint them either way. I m not really sure if painting them will have any long term affect on functionality.
I m thinking of replacing mine with new ones cause the dirt on them as thick as Jeremy Clarkson.

Re: Doc Orange Peel Barchetta project

Go for Red Doc, it'll draw attention to and contrast against your nice new wheels.
