Red face Coolant

Sorry to be a bit thick but am about to do the coolant on my 96 B. is all you need to do is disconnect bottom rad hose to drain it ? or do any others have to come off eg expansion tank. Also, when i refill, is that little knurled knob on top of the rad near the top hose (In the plastic moulding) a bleed screw to undo when refilling-dont want to try and undo it and break something that isnt supposed to come off-like i did with the bleed nipple on the rear brake calliper-bought a stud extractor but may leave it until fluid in that brake boils!!!!! If it isn't how do you ensure it fills without getting airlocks? My MR2 has at least 2 bleed screws-one on the top of the rad and one near the heater matrix so am used to much more complex filling procedures!

Re: Coolant

Yes and yes!
Bottom hose off with the expansion tank cap off, back on anf fill it up. Start the engine with the expansion cap off and let it get up to temperature when both the top and bottom hoses are nice and warm undo the little screw on the top hose until water runs out without any air bubbles. Do it back up and fill the expansion tank up and all done

Re: Coolant

Oh, and make sure that you have the heater in the car on full heat to allow the heater matrix to be included!!
