Barchetta Section News/Updates

Just to let you all know we now have specific sections for the Barchetta in Classifieds (cars & parts) and guides for mechanical or all other type of repairs or how to's.

So help yourself to fill it up

If you have anything surplus to requirements, or bits that you think may help your fellow Barchetta owner get them stuck in

Re: Barchetta Section News/Updates

Something has to be in it for the section to come up.....if you have a look at putting an add on you will see the barchetta section.

Re: Barchetta Section News/Updates

If someone buys this for parts, drop me an email as I have a list of bits that I will give you cash 4.

Doc Orange Peel

FYI If the engine sump and gearbox damage and other impact damage is bad then the engine is more then likely well shot if it was running with no oil for more then a min or so. Only buy if you can do without the engine I say. That way if you can get her running again its a big +

This B would be a 50/50 to put back on the road as its a close call.

From what I can see the parts list would be something like:

Bonnet (Poss fix) £100 -£150 + paint
Front Bump (poss fix) £200 -£350 +paint
Alloy wheel £80
Sump £ ?
Gearbox £200 -£300 second hand
Two airbags and dash covers £?
Front bodywork and back bodywork dent removal £500 - £800
Possible downpipe and CAT damage £300

So best case would be £2300 ISH

If this is all thats needed then it would be a go !!! BUT !!! and its a big but. Things could be a lot more ££££££!!! If the B sells for say £1500 on eBay then you will only have £400 - £500 extra to play with for anything else that pops up over the £2300 parts list. All in all you could save a max of £1200 ISH. It will also always be a CAT C car so that makes selling it harder and also hits the sale price.

Below is a link to a B thats as close as I could find to the crashed one thats for sale. Its selling for £4999 from a dealer.

Link

Good luck if you buy it. Another B off the road :-( Would be nice to see it back on the road but it does not look that likely.

Re: Barchetta Section News/Updates

I have talked with the bloke who won the aution a few times last week. I dont think he knows if he will put it back on the road or brake it for parts yet. I think the damage to the engine and wishbones and things like that will be more then listed in the aution. Its taken a real large hit to the underside to brake the sump and gearbox as well as smash the alloys. If you smash an alloy on impact all that force goes into the wishbones and engine mounts and stuff like that. The other thing is the dash airbag went off. How hard is it going to be to get a red airbag cover so he can sell the red leather!!!He will get good money for the red leather but even more if the dash was 100%. Fiat want good money for one and thats if you ever get it in. Bit of a gamble but for just over 1K its not a bad punt. He will make the money back if he brakes it for parts. I made a list of parts and sent it to him, the total was about £200 +.

Re: Barchetta Section News/Updates

Could it not be sold to someone without airbag as it would be the same size as the glovebox?

Re: Barchetta Section News/Updates

Could be but you still have the problem of getting a red glove box door. hens teeth anyone ?

I am not 100% but the red dash only ever came in the LE special editions, and as far as I know all had two airbags. Fiat might have never made a red glove box. I could be wrong so if anyone has a red dash and a glove box let us know.

Re: Barchetta Section News/Updates

Could you not get a normal one, and upholster the red leather yourself? I say yourself, what I mean is... your Wife/Partner/GF/Someone with upholstery knowledge!

Re: Barchetta Section News/Updates

If the impact is as bad as you say, smashed wheels, airbags gone off etc then I wouldn't be worried about cosmetics like the airbag cover but more basic things like bodyshell damage. If the shell is twisted its either big bucks on a jig to straighten or more likely a write off...
